We had 2 weeks at the CdG, in a Premier Room facing the sea. The room was air-conditioned, and very comfortable. The hotel offers a great deal to the traveller. 4 restaurants, 2 bars, entertainment, swimming pool, beauty treatments, the list goes on a fair bit
The pool area overlooks the sea, although it really is the mouth of a major river. Across the river, is a major port. But this is not mentioned to put folk off, it is just a fact of life.
The staff at the hotel are some of the most helpful that I have ever encountered. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone.

I had taken a package for 3 days 4 nights for Goa. We stayed at Cidade de Goa. It is a pathetic hotel. The management is very poor and so are the services they offer. The hotel management makes no effort to distinguish their services based on the customers they have. The cruise they offer is simply said terrible and no care is taken of the guests. A very pleasent hotel but if booked other than as a package, can be quite expensive at over $200.00 a night. The upside of booking independently is that you can book a superior room which all face the sea, the standard rooms face inland and would be less appealing. Also ask for a room at least on the third floor, as you need this height to be able to get a good view across the grounds, the beach and ocean. Its downside is that the beach is not that long that you can take good walks. The property does however have extensive grounds with sun loungers placed throughout so there is always an area you can find which gives more than a modicum of privacy. There are numerous restaurants on the property all of which offer more than acceptable food. The hotel runs free minibus to the Capitol Panjim each day which is worth a visit. A very modern and well run hotel and a stay of 4/5 days is ideal.
Booking a 3 night, 4 day package with Indian Airways give you a good deal at this hotel at $520 from Mumbai and $1000 from Delhi, for both hotel room and airfare plus ground transportation. this provides a standard room but no doubt the hotel would upgrade upon payment of an extra fee if available
