The Vt hotel database is extensive but not yet fully completed. I wonder if this is the place you mean?

Travel Tips for Goa

What can I say about Goa. Its...

by karma_kola

What can I say about Goa. Its all been said before. It s one of my favourite places. The sun, the sand and the people. amazing! Don't forget the Booze!! Its cheap and good! the best thing to do is drink and laze on the beach. its amazing. the shackwallah on the beaches will bring you beer and food. that is me with the first drink of the day. Looks like a milkshake - it isn't. its a cocktail with a Feni (local brew) base! Amazing!!

Save youself money and use the nearest ATM

by traceyspacey

We are in Palolem and many people don't know that there are 2 ATM's in Chaudi, which is the nearest town. Chaudi (4km from Palolem) can be reached by bus from Palolem and costs 4 Rupees. The bus drops close to the first one. Saves you money as you don't have to pay 3% commission everytime you need money.

We only found out about the ATM's as a couple of people who come here a lot told us. So ask the expats.

5 things to bring

by kbua

1.Flashlight: Power failures happens daily in all of Goa.
2.Mosquito repellant: Not only do mosquitos disturb you beauty sleep but they can give you malaria.
3.Water subsitute: Stomach trouble is almost mandatory for tourists. For Swedes I recommend "Resorb".
4.Sun lotion. Pink isn't such a lovely colour as one might think.
5. International driver's license. Required if one want to rent a moped or a motorcycle. Useful if you don't want to bribe the local police.

Children

by ak47uk

You will find children asking for money and the best way out of this is to give them a soda or some food, don't give them money how ever sorry for them you feel, because the next day outside your hotel they will be waiting for you in great numbers and it does cause problems as you can't give money to every child and giving money to one usually ends up in a mass melee of squabbling siblings. Some parents have a lot to answer for because they are usually the ones that send their kids begging in the first place and all the money collected goes to them and if the child has a bad day begging it's not the warmest of welcomes when they get home.

Mobile phones in India

by georeiser

India has a large number of mobile phone users. Even among the poorest people. In 2009 they said it was more mobil phones than toalets in India. With their increasing technology it is maybe twice as much now. Domestic calls within India is cheap.
