nice place with pool in Benaulim?

by garyandmichelle

I've booked into the Carina beach resort in Benaulim for 10 days in January, just wondered if anyone knows of it, or the Lotus suites, what are they like? And I'd like to know how bad the hawkers are there on the beach, are they a constant plague? and how do you deal with them?
Our first 8 days I've booked into the Coconut Creek in Bogmolo hoping for a bit of luxury!

Carina is a nice medium sized resort tucked away in Benaulim, a short walk to the beach. I once worked there! I now live in the uk. All I can say is that you won't regret going there. It has a very laidback and relaxing feel to it. I don't know what the lotus suites are (I worked there five years ago)
About hawkers, be firm but politely refuse any dealings. They can be very persuasive, this is common, do not be offended by this!
Hope you have a great stay in Goa.
Anna
ps my sister lourdes works there as a bar maid. Say hi!

Hi Gary and Michelle,
I stayed at the Carina in February this year! Its a nice place with clean rooms and friendy staff. The pool is clean and you can hire bikes from the hotel on a daily or weekly basis. These are handy for the trip to the beach which will take about ten minutes. I cant comment on the food because i never ate there except for breakfast! Most people use Goan hotels as a base in which to sample everything around them.

The beaches are the best iv'e seen and have some nice beachshacks where I spent most of my time. Don't worry about the hawkers, they will try to sell you your own socks if they think you are interested but if you say no and give no sign of being interested they wont bother you! If they persist, tell them to go away and they will!

Have a great time

Steve

Thanks for the comments you two,
Maybe you know of a hotel of similar standard that's a bit nearer the beach.... I don't really fancy a 10 min trip just to get to the beach?

Hi Gary and Michelle
Carina has a superb pool and you can always sun lounge in relative seclusion (as opposed to some crowded hotels)
Also most hotels which open on to the beach will be dearer. Carina would be a good starting point if you are new to Goa.
You can shorten the time walking to the beach if you are prepared to pay more.
Most of the hotels along the beachfront tend to be the four and five stars.
Good luck with your decisions.

Place to stay in Benaulim

by lottib

Anyone got any suggestions for places to stay in Benaulim. AM heading out at the end of January, expect it to be busy - the other problem is we are arriving at about 5 in the am, so may be difficult to get a room at that time. Would rather book something in advance - but everyone I have called won't take bookings! Anyone help me out??

Cheers

Try the Palm Grove in Benaulim we stayed there just after the new year for a few days it was very clean and tidy and of course reasonably priced & an excellant breakfast in nice suurondings. Its in the latest rough guide to Goa which is well worth getting before you go.

If you intend to stay longer then O Palmar beach resort is the ideal place just bang opposite beach. The just rooms are large but with only basic ammenities. But rates are in the range of Rs. 350 - 500 per room. Other wise for higher ends there is Lotus suites Rs. 2000 - 2500 per room. Keep in mind O Palmar has only basic facilities. Apart from that there are no. of hotels, As the season is near ending you will get on the spot booking, you may book any hotel for one night & then check up the facilites & then book for your entire duration of stay.

Try L'amour Beach resort. We stayed there in November for 9 nights and it was excellent. Expect to pay around 600 rupees a room. Great location and very helpful staff. Their email address is lamourgoa@redifmail.com

Thanks for all your advice....has
anyone stayed at Camilsons, in
Benaulim? I understand it's right
on the beach. Also, is it
necessary to take malaria tablets
at the beginning of February?

Dont know that place...but L'amour is a good place to stay. Re malaria tablets...if you are going to use them then it applies year round...personally I cant stand them so never bother...but its each to their own.

Enjoy!
