Perfectly Suitable, Excellent Location, Excellent

Our stay in this hotel was very comfortable and pleasant. The location was perfect, right in the heart of Panjim and just beside the bus stop and opposite the casinos, the jetty and shopping. Miramar beach is 10 mins by bus and buses to other areas of Goa are also available just outside the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with south Indian dishes. and eggs to order and was included in the price. The Hotel Restaurant serves excellent food and the staff were very accommodating on any special requests. The hotel also has airport transfer included. The rooms were clean and the decor was pleasing. The view from the room was lovely with the mandovi river, the bridge and the floating casinos in sight. This was a front view room, the back rooms may have a different view. We would definitely stay here again if we had the opportunity

I heard about paragliding tandem with instructor in Goa.
Can you please tell where it is. Maybe someone knows the contacts?

Re: Paragliding in Goa

'm still under the impression from my first flight on a paraglider! My instructor, with whom I flew and met me in Arambol and together with other willing, we went to fly. We booked our flight photography and I did not expect that our photographer will have pictures of flying next to us on the other glider.
We managed to look at the top of Arambol and interesting small beaches near Arambol, one of them is a beautiful little lake.
I liked the quality of services rendered, I only had to call once and the next day I called back and invited into the flight, met and gave a lot of good impressions.
Thank you!

Travel Tips for Goa

Domestic flights and accomodation during dec-jan

by Avijayan

Accomodation especially during Dec-Jan needs to be done ideally a year before, still not too late for dec and as your stay for nearly a month, you will be given priority than the ones who stay for a week or fortnight.

Flights can be booked even 6 months in advance(international) and 100 days in advance for domestic to get best deals. Suggest you book via Jet airways(www.jetairways.com) or Kingfisher airlines(www.flykingfisher.com), they fly between Europe and Far East into Mumbai/Bangalore/Delhi(Mumbai is 50 mins fly time to Goa and it is 60 mins flight from Bangalore to Goa) and are the leading domestic carrier's in India.

* Delhi would be last choice, unless your sector does not fly to Mumbai or Bangalore. And during dec-jan, Delhi is not advisable with fog and flights get cancelled and delayed and will be frustrating to start or finish your holiday.

Handy Fruit Sellers!!

by mimi2006

One of the best things about Goa is the abundance of fresh fruit!! On the way from the beach in Calangute we would stop and buy fruit from one of the sellers on the roadside. We would pick a massive pineapple and she would peel, slice it and bag it up for us. We wre lucky enough to have a fridge in our room so we would rinse the fruit our with bottled water and leave it in the fridge overnight. Starting your day with a mellow sweet as nectar pineapple is the way to go!!

Travelling with Pets

by adite

India is not a very travel-friendly place if you're planning to do so with your pets. First, of all, if you have a dog with you - no matter how well trained or obedient - you will not find hotel accommodation easily. We knew that but still decided to take a holiday in Goa with our 2 dogs! some experience that was! First of all, we travelled from Delhi to Goa by first class coupe in the Rajdhani Express train (24 hours+ journey). While the house owners from whom we had rented the accommodation welcomed our pets (Baloo and Oona), we realised, we could hardly ever venture to the beaches with our dogs because of the stray dogs that roam around freely over there. They are very fierce and will fight to preserve their turf. So our pets had to stay back at the cottage while we roamed the beaches...luckily the cottage where we stayed had a huge backyard and open green spaces where they ran around and played and chased buffaloes all day long!

Baksheesh

As in all India, if you 'tip' people up front...you will get a better service. So if you go into a Goan restaurant...and need to be somewhere else at a certain time...give the waiter a tip and say 'we need to be out of here in an hours time...'. It works!

Tips!

by jalapeeno

Everyone wants a tip!!!!!!!!

Its always good to tip and in such a cheap place why not! However... its seems that its somewhat ruining the ecomnomy and giving certain areas and certain people too much money!

I know it sounds daft but my advice is dont OVER tip. We gave tips (normally about 10%) to tuk tuk drivers, taxis and restuarants, but these guys get tips all day long - theres lots of poor people in Goa/Inida so if you really wanna help maybe visit one of the animal shelters or schools to give something (they really appreciate clothes/books/pens - in the schools)
