Anjuna Beach
Anjuna Beach is world famous for its Flea Market, which takes place on Wednesdays at that beach. Local stuff, hippies' items, clothes...

We were staying there in February 2005. Was a great place. Service was good. We were staying in the Nanu Retreat - and we were allowed to use all facilities of the hotel, however - we were using only restaurant for breakfast. Very trustful people - we booked it through Internet and without any prepayment - the guys just told us that they are waiting for us...
I would recommend the Nanu Retreat specially for families travelling with kids when the parents need some privacy.
The sea is 5 min.walk (as all hotels)
Unique Quality: The Nanu Retreat is located next to the Nanu Beach Resort - and it is one building with the 2-floores appartment - which is very good for traveling with kids - you have bed for sleeping in a living room and bathroom, kitchenette - downstairs, upstairs - there is a bedroom with the balcony and bathroom. Balcony is faced to a beautiful garden with a swimming pool. There are not many people staying in the Retreat (all of them are in the hotel) - so the pool is always empty - it's fun for kids. We usually were going to a beach.

hi guys, i am living in chennai and i am off on a 9 days holiday to goa in march. i would like to rent a car (self driven) from dabolim airport. i just can not find any good websides...any help or suggestions?
would be great, cheers...michael
It is probably because they think tourist driving in India is not a good idea.
I have driven everywhere I have gone except Goa.
90% of car accidents in Goa are with tourists, if you don't know their horn blowing system, you may struggle.
Good luck anyway.
Hi Michael - as far as I know there (still) aren't any rental agencies at the airport. There is a rental place in Candolim. Unfortunately I cannot remember the full name - it's next to the football field on the main road and name starts with Vik.... I may have a business card around somewhere and will look for it. Will let you know if I find it. Have a great time in Goa!
Ricky.... I did not realize there was actually a system to the horn-blowing. I thought you just kept your hand on it ALL the time. ;-))
hi donna...thanks very much for looking, yea i checked the airport website and there are no rental companies...if you find anything let me know. cheers
I found it....Velankani or Vailankanni - This is definitely it. We rented from them without a driver.... Enjoy!
Check this....
You could even book a car of your choice for site seeing and general transportation & moving around to explore rest of Goa. Velankani Tourist Centre, next to Candolim football ground is available, rates are fixed and drivers are reliable - +91 9822101598 +91 0832 2489568.
Or this....

I tried this car rental long time back. its called Vailankanni Car rentals in Calangute no. is 0832-2489568 /0832-3290584. (Apologies if the no. aint working..i took a car from them some years back). Doubt they would deliver a car for you in the airport or in South goa as the rental is in North Goa and they prefer to cater to clients based in North Goa.
thanks very much, i will be in north goa anyway so it sounds quite good and donna mentiones the same car rental people...thanks very much.

This was my first visit to GOA. As we all our friends enjoyed in calangute beach. Which was wonderful.... we spent the whole day on the beach & we had our food in shacks.... it was very spicy especially the Crab... i would suggest to any of the families or a couple that a holiday in GOA is going to be a memorable & Enjoyable one. Please don't miss out the para sailing in GOA..... unfortunately we missed out :(
Baga beach - go dolphin watching and then go to a few beach bars, watch the sunset, have a few drinks and something nice to eat at one of the beach bars (particularly the UB40 one).
We went in Febuary and it was a bit stifling at 35 degrees - particularly stuffy at night. Best time to go would be between November - Jan I believe. Relaxing in the shade with a cool bottle of Kingfisher. Its about 30/40p for a lovely big bottle and a pound for a really nice curry!
One of the main reasons people come to Goa is for its beaches. The most famous are at North (Anjuna, Calangute, Candolim...), and is where you'll find the most lively parties at night. But if you are looking for isolation and wild beaches, head South, for Palolem, Colva, Cavelossim...
The Goa Carnival organised in mid February every year is part of Goa custom for sure. For three days and nights the streets become alive with vibrant colours, music, dance and fun. It's the time of festivity, feast, music and dance and enjoying life to the fullest. The origin is rooted in Portuguese Goa and goes back to three hundred years. During this time, people of Goa, as well as people from all around the country and abroad who have gathered to enjoy the occasion, gather on the streets, singing, dancing, playing the band, eating, drinking and merry making. Grand balls are also held in the evenings.
