Shopping is much better in Mumbai - for both selection and price. There aren't any big malls such as the ones in Mumbai. For price though, the markets in Mumbai are best. Head out of the Colaba/tourist area for best prices but STILL bargain hard - start at about 25% of the price and end somewhere around 50%. No bargaining in malls though - and prices for "international" brands are very high.

There's an Inox in Panjim with comfy reclining seats. You can pre-book tickets as well. http://www.inoxmovies.com/index.aspx

Is there anything particular you are shipping for?

Cottage Emporium (across from Leopold's in Colaba) has wonderful fixed price Indian handicrafts, etc.

Bandra (suburb, not too far from Colaba) has lots of clothes, shoes, etc.

Mumbai shopping is far better than Goa. But why go to Goa for shopping and for multiplexes? Keep these for Mumbai and enjoy Goa for what it is - fun, frolic and food ;-

a lot of the people in Goa buy from Mumbai and add their bit of profit so its definitely more expensive in Goa. But There are some people selling stuff from Northern parts of India that were very unique and that I did not see in Mumbai.

Travel Tips for Goa

Money Exchange

by abi_maha

I would suggest you get to Goa and exchange foreign currency for Indian rupees, locally you can get a better rate than even the going rate. Check with 2/3 people before actually changing as each offers a different exchange rate usually. Talking a bit and asking for better rates usually helps.

Or if you are in Goa why not pop into All Spice Restaurant in Arpora and leave a donation with Vinnie.

You know it makes sense!

The beach sellers in Goa

by georeiser

The beaches of Goa has a large number of lokals who sell food, drinks, icecream or crafts. In many cases they don't take no for an answer, and keep on hassle until you have bought something. Remember to bargain at least half the price.

Cows in the street

by georeiser

The Hindus consider the cows in India as holy and they are allowed to freely roam the cities whatever traffic around. This looks strange to foreigners, but you will get used to it. It is always like that everywhere you go. The hindus believe the cows are wise and show a motherly calm.

So diverse!

by BluBluBlu

Goa has such a mix of people that there's a celebration somewhere virtually every day! Some are on set dates ( like Christmas ) and others move around according to the lunar cycle. All are fun...all worth getting involved in.
