Varca's best place

This is an upmarket place. My stay here was very comfortable and pleasant. The facilities are outstanding.Food is not bad.It is great to walk in the gardens and also out on the private beach adjoining the hotel.Very safe.

Unique Quality: They have sea facing tents with all possible ammenities. It can't get better!

A nice relaxing break

We have just got back from a relaxing week in Goa in Radisson White Sands. The hotel is great, wonderful spacious grounds and a great swimming pool, however, I would agree with a previous comment that the rooms whilst OK are not what you would expect from a 5 Star hotel. The beach was a bit of a disapointment for me there is a small river through the beach and old coke bottles etc had just been dumped in it. The food in the hotel was good breakfast provided all you could ask for, the evening buffet got a tad boring, but the fish restaurant 'the Dhow' on the beach provided excellent fish, try the tiger prawns they are a must but beware they are huge my husband and I ordered 3 each and struggled to eat them all!!! The prices are more expensive than outside but I think were worth it, the quality to me seemed much better. Outside there are about 5 restuarants, we went to the Sun and Moon good value but service really slow, Peiriera's which is just outside the hotel gate we found to be better.

More about Radisson White Sands Resort Goa

A wonderful hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

The Radisson White Sands Resort more than lived up to our expectations and its reputation. The rooms were lovely, clean and modern and the beds so comfy it was difficult to get up in the morning !!

We were lucky enough to have a ground floor room with double doors opening onto the gardens and could watch the sun go down from our own sun loungers. The only blot on the horizon being our neighbour's husband insisting on sunbathing in a thong, not a pretty sight !

The beach was beautiful and white and the beach sellers, Monica and Sunita, were friendly, didn't bother you too much and offered credit to English tourists !!

We were on B&B and did find the novelty of eating at food shacks and restaurants wore off towards the end of our stay. We also found we were spending approx £10 per night on taxi fares to other towns for food. The taxi drivers could not be haggled with and whilst they did wait for us to take us back to the hotel, a couple became a bit stroppy if we stayed out after 10.30pm.

We had the most wonderful time on our first visit to Goa and are planning a return trip. The holiday was booked with Thomson and was very reasonably priced (although we won't be using Thomson again as their plane was staffed with the grumpiest people we've ever come across and we were packed in like sardines).

We would recommend the Radisson White Sands Resort for a quality relaxing beach hotel and a good introduction to Goa and India.

great pool, bad bars, dubious value

by A TripAdvisor Member

The radisson white sands is smart and self-consciously upmarket - with in-hotel prices to match. The meandering pool with waterfall and bar is the best thing about it. The worst is the fact that it has no bar open after 11.00pm - reminiscent of the worst of England and unimaginable in a five-star hotel anywhere. It is also very isolated and the taxi drivers who operate a cabal with the hotel know it and charge high fares accordingly - walk along the road to the mahindra beach a few hundred yards away and they immediately drop 20 per cent. They also hassle other drivers from the nearby towns if they try to pick up a passenger on 'their' turf. The food in the Flavours restaurant is, however, excellent, although that at the poolside cafe is mediocre to say the most. At all costs do NOT take an all-inclusive package unless you know exactly what you are getting.
Room standards are high and the grounds are immaculate, with the 'quirky' option of beach front 'tents' - with full plumbing.
It is popular with well-do-do Indian families, especially from Bangalore, which makes it feel less of a foreigners' ghetto than some places in Goa, but do bear in mind that that makes ir - particularly in low season - very much a 'family hotel' , with all that means in American terms - and if you don't have kids then you might not enjoy the early-to-bed, early-to-rise atmosphere. I'd love to give it a higher star rating, but twiddling my thumbs at 1130 pm got to me!

Indeed very good hotel, away from city but still in reach.(Big problem of taxi high cost). Nice place to be in with decor and good food with vast spread (best choce). Friendly staff makes you feel good.

Strongly advise not to stay there

by TripAdvisor Member Petrisic

Slow check in.First room was dirty.I changet to a second dirty room, which was cleand again on request. There were bugs in the swimming pool. General service was poor as it was slow and unefficiant. To small restaurant with chaos and generaly with local food. Housekeeping sucks.
