Stayed here in August 2010 for an office meet. Didnt like the hotel, mediocre rooms, ancient TV and cable content. May be it was due to the monsoons that the rooms also looked drab. To top it the saddest casino I have seem ever. Seeing everytrhing, I felt someone please beam me up.... Good thing, wells pread hotel, beach is nearby and can be accessed anythime. If the sea isnt rough, the beach is a great place to hang out. Pool is big but very deep. Buffet food wasnt good. Everything on the menu seemed to be fitted for a price. Hotel was full of package tour tourists. Wouldnt recommend to anyone.

Club Mahendra Varca Beach Resort was beautiful
I have to say we had the best holiday ever, the weather was beautiful and so were the people. The Club Mahendra Varca Beach Resort was clean and beautifully presented at all times, the staff were friendly and were very interested in talking to everyone and making the holiday special. The staff kept everyone happy at all times. I would go back in an instant to Club Mahendra Varca Beach Resort with no hesitation at all.

A resort at Varca Beach
I sincerely advise you to book your accomodation before reaching Goa.It is a place frequented by tourists, both domestic and foreign and so most of the times, accomodations are full. Club Mahindra.I have stayed at Club Mahindra and would recommend it.It is an upmarket place, but good to stay for a short holiday(check out the prices, sometimes you could get a good deal by just communicating to them, regarding your requirements) they have a few budget rooms. You wouldn't need to carry a mosquito net if you are staying at a decent place. But definetly carry mosquito repellent.
Unique Quality: great pools. The food is good. The rooms are clean, has beaches, almost exclusive to their guests,so it is very safe. The Varca beach is not as crowded as the rest of Goa,yet is safe. The facilities are top of the line.Friendly staff. Some of the rooms have a basic kitchen.they have a lot of activities planned for children and adults, like crafts, games, workshops, yoga etc..This also has a good gym and an ayurvedic spa.

Just your average resort
We stayed here over three days leading up to New Year's Eve 2006. Goa is packed to the gills during that time so it was one of the few options we had given we were not booking for a whole week. The experience was decidedly mixed.
The good things: - Pristine, and almost empty, beach - All the expected resort facilities - big pool, swim up bar, tennis and other sports facilities, western style bathrooms, etc. - An extravagant New Year's Eve buffet on the lawn with individual cabanas in which to eat.
The bad things: - Extremely musty room with no availability to change rooms - Room decor that had clearly not been changed in a long time - seemed very 80s to me - Extremely expensive with an enforced, and expensive, New Year's Eve buffet - Extra charges for almost everything which just annoyed us - Taking a cab from the resort was 4x more than what it would have cost in town...but the resort was isolated so there was no choice.
The upshot... I am not really a resort person and I felt isolated (the resort is a ways a way from anywhere) and locked in. We got what we deserved for wanting to be in Goa over New Year's Eve. We went to the Taj resort nearby for dinner one night and although more expensive, it seemed to be more all inclusive and a much calmer environment...and fewer heavy Europeans and Australians who really shouldn't have been in bikinis.
Unique Quality: Amazing beach with a bar and restaurant right on the sand. Nice atrium and hotel bar.

varca beach
some friends of ours were visiting goa in febuary 04 so we arranged to meet up as we was staying in north goa.I went to the reception and asked if they had any rooms available the reply was no.so i went over to my friends and explained that they did not have any rooms available then the receptionist changed her mind and then said that they had.whether they didnt like the look of me cause i look like a hippy i dont know.then we started to haggle about the price and she started off at £120 for three nights for two people which i got down to £90.
Unique Quality: never been to south goa before but the beach is 5 star.outside the hotel there are a few restuarants and on the beach there are about 5 shacks with others in walking distance.i would rate the hotel as three star plus as the staff are ok and the facilities as you would expect and if i went to varca i would stay there again.
Stayed at the Ramada in February and would definitely agree about the sunbeds - we never actually got a sunbed round the pool at all and spent our days at the hotel on the beach, which is lovely. They really need to do something about this - as the previous writer said, they were all gone by 7.00 in the morning, and if you got to the beach after about 10.30 all the beds had gone there as well, so we often got a bed by the Capricorn shack, which is run by Monica. The food there is lovely. Must admit never went to the Sunset Paradise one, as we went to their restaurant outside the hotel one night and there is very heavy sales pressure to go and look at his small shop at the back, and once you get in its very hard to get out - prefer to eat without being hassled!! Apart from that all the food we had everywhere was brilliant and so cheap. Again would agree with previous reports about the taxis - you don't have any option but to take the ones outside the hotel, and they aren't for haggling!
We found the rooms at the hotel to be very nice, after an initial mixup and overbooking - didn't have the musty smell that other people have experienced. Overall it was a super holiday and the boat trips from Bettys were unbelievable and probably the highlight of the holiday - there is plenty to do and you never get bored, in fact 2 weeks wasn't long enough. Definitely going back next year to the Ramada and would recommend it highly. And don't miss having a meal at Mike's as well - so much to choose from so little time .....!!
hi everybody planning a monsoon getaway in goa. can anyone who has been recently there recommend me their views about the above hotels in terms of the following
1 value for money 2 views from the room 3 size of property 4 service and hospitality 5 food 6 quality of rooms
iam open to receive any suggestions from you that will help me in selecting any 1 of the above hotels or if you want to suggest something better
I've stayed at the Taj Forte Aguada, which at the time - nearly 20 years ago now, so bear this in mind - was the top hotel. It was very comfortable and well located, scoring high in all your categories. Recommended.
I stayed at the Taj Exotica for a weekend two weeks ago, very good hotel. Rooms are villas [4 to block, 2 up 2 down] looking over gardens or towards sea. Spacious comfy rooms, large well equipped bathroom with bath and shower room. Service, hospitality excellent. Property sits on 55 acres landscaped gardens, you travel around in little golf buggies. Food is of a high standard. Excellent buffet breakfast [best croissants]. The mediteranean restaurant is very good and the dishes I tried would pass in a restaurant in Europe, which is not the case in a lot of indian 5 stars. I would recomend this hotel.
