superb 3 star resort

We have stayed at this hotel on 15 seperate occasions and each has been superb. The accomodation is fairly basic with air conditioning added to the rooms only this year and also sattelite tv in every room. What makes this a most oustanding hotel is the staff from the room boys who service your room to the waiters and chefs who prepare your meals and serve them. The hotel management ensure all runs like clockwork. The reception staff are pleasant and cheerful and always helpful. We thouroughly recomend the chinese / thai resteraunt for the delicious foods they serve. The Indian resteraunt is also excellent and the biryanis are a delight as is the tandoori options.

Unique Quality: The most outstanding feature of this hotel is the staff with its location in the centre of the Calangute / Baga strip but a few hundred metres from the main road ensuring little disruption of ones tranquility. Attached to the hotel is a jeweller who s products can be highly recomended for both quality and value. Just outside the main entrance to the hotel is a fine taylor who will make to measure or copy any item you may wish in superb fabrics at very reasonable prices. There is also a beauty parlor in the hotel catering for both sexes a thoruogh pampering can be reccomended at a tenth of the uk price.

Hotel Santiago, Goa

by Cazbobz

Has anyone stayed at this hotel, or knows someone who has, and if so could you tell me what it's like please? We are due to stay there in April and can not seem to find anything about it on the internet - which is quite worrying!!
Many thanks.

Hi,
Yes we stayed at Santiago a few years ago.
It is just off the main the main Baga Calangute road. Just near the end of the road that runs from the beach past the CSM.
It has a nice pool area and the outside is quite pretty. The rooms are average Goa standards.

3 of us stopped there in 2002. The rooms are big enough to sleep 3 all though we chose to take 2 rooms. There is a separate living room with mini bar , a bedroom with ensuite bathroom. The rooms are fairly basic. Normally the hotel is an All inclusive basis or Thomas Cook in the UK refers to it as Full Plus, which is all your food and drink. The waiters are very friendly, although a bit too keen to get a tip.

The pool is nice, although at different parts of the day it can be shaded. If you want sun all the time you have to move around the sun loungers.

Breakfast is taken in the garden restaurant round the back which does Chinese food on an evening. Most people on an evening tend to sit round the pool and eat there, as there is entertainment on most nights of the week. April tends to be at the end of the season, so there may be less entertainment.

The hotel is ideally located in Baga near to CSM road and the popular beach shacks Big Banana, Boscos and Spliffs

Hiya,
The resort is at Cobra Waddi just off the main baga - calangute road. it seems to cater more for all inclusive holidays (BIG mistake in Goa) but does do B an B, the resort is clean and friendly, food is average and breakfast is buffet style, a better bet for breakfast is the milky whey, a small yoghurt and fruit cafe at the entrance to the Santiago.
The pool is not a big one but quite adequate for cooling off and looses the sun through the day very quickly.
The rooms are a bit better than basic and large, airy and clean.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Take a torch with you as the driveway to the resort is unlit at night.
