Which hotel to choose?

by Reenyroo

I have been researching a hotel in Candolim for my elderly parents to stay at, and have narrowed it doen to these:

1. Highland Beach Resort
2. Sonesta Inn
3. Phoenix Park Inn
4. Prazeres

They all seem to have good reviews and be near shops, restaurants, etc - is that right? Also, the hotel needs to be fairly quiet, but have some light entertainment, and be suitable for older couples.

Which one should I go for??

My choice would be Sonesta Inn. Highland beach resort has building work on going at this time. Sonesta is 5 minutes walk to some of the quietest beach in the Candolim Calangute area. It's also pretty nice and quiet. Plenty of restaurants within a 5 minute taxi ride.

Ditto...........go for the Sonesta.
Reports that the Prazeres is a bit rowdy these days, plus the walk to Candolim main road, tho' not far can be a bit risky, it's the main Panjim road.
Building work at the Highland and badly lit road leading to the Phoenix.

Cheers!

Hi!
I stayed in Goa 2 years ago in august, monsoon season too, though a bit later than you. Goa beaches was quite empty of activity, I mean only half of the restaurants open, no discos/pubs, no market on Anjuna... the beaches were OK for walking, but the sea was too troubled for swimming.
I stayed at the Taj Holiday Village in Sinquerim, the southernmost part of Candolim. I found the place quite safe to walk on the beach, even at night. The beach will be deserted at that time...

Hello there!

I am Vinod from Mumbai and i would like you to provide some info abt your travel to Goa! First of all youre travelling at a monsoon season and as such there wont be much activities.

As far as walking on the beach is concerned use yur own discretion ! Most of the beaches in the nights are deserted and there are always wild stray dogs roaming there and some might get aggressive. if you want to take walks, see to it that its near to shacks and not far away. If you see any shacks closed, its better to avoid as you would be outnumberd by a few jerks who come from other states. But as such you wont face any problems as shack owners are always there to help out the tourist. For them TOURIST means God as it is the only source of living.

safe Travels :)

Hope you have a wonderful time - I'm going back to Candolim in 161days (?) 13th November! Went there in April this year and am hoping it won't be quite so hot in November. If anyone else is going to be there between 13th and 28th November, let me know. With regard to packing - all I know at the moment is that I'm only taking half of what I think I'll need - and an extra bag to bring back all those things I don't know I need yet!!
Enjoy!
