Baga Beach, Sun City Resort Hotel

by ukpmil

Hi,
I am thinking of booking the above hotel for 2 weeks from 9th April.
Can anyone give me any information about what this hotel is like, & also what the resort of Baga Beach is like. Are there plenty of bars & places to eat on an evening.
I will be travelling with my girlfriend & 11 year old daughter.

Thanks, Paul.

Hi - can't help with the specific resort but the main Baga road is full of restaurants and bars. Brittos is right on the beach and is a nice place to eat. Tito's and Mambos are 2 of the most popular clubs. Baga beach is a good place to get a lounge and relax on the beach. Water sports are also available. Have fun!

Hi have just returned from Baga beach!!
Don't know the hotel personally.
Baga beach is vibrant during the day and at night. When we were there lots going on at night, barbecues etc etc.
Not sure what it will be like in April as I understand the "tourist" season is coming to a close and a lot of places close down.
The sea is great for swimming so warm.
Hope this helps

Travel Tips for Goa

Annoying Guests and uncultured Kids

by XKuger

Manu fond memories everthing from the fantastic hotel Hyaat resort and Spa to the beautiful beaches, the water sports. The warm waters of the Indian ocean and the mouth watering food at the hotel. Simple unforgetable.

My only bad experience on the entire trip was some very annoying guest East European guests. They looked like a tour group that was simply ruining the tranquility of the hotel.

They kids seems to disobey every rule posted.

1. They would dive into the Pool when it clearly said no diving.
2. Splash around widely and cause wake.
3. Move your towels to grab a shaded spot / chair that you have got.
4. Kids were very loud.
5. The kids climbed the coconut trees that were part of the landscape and picked coconuts and cut them with swiss knife and drank the water.
6. The Parents just didn't seem to care and never corrected any of them.

It was sad to see they the parents set such a bad example to other children. Just because you pay doesnt not mean you have the right to do anyhting..

General things to remember

by lewy1711

Goa is a really friendly place to visit and great place to live.

Dont forget:
* 95% of people here speak at least 4 languages.

* Fish curry rice is the staple food here, try it atleast twice in different restaurants.

*The bus is the fastest, best and cheapest way to travel around Goa

*Shopping in the hotel/resort shop should be left for emergency items only

*Everything on the beach costs 5 times more than off it

*divide all prices by 4 and then work upwards, if you think its really worth it

*walk away from the shop, you are usually called back and get to buy at your price....f the shop person doesnt look sad/angry after your purchase you paid way too much!

*curries are eaten with rice or naan, not both like in UK, its great fun to try.

*eating vegetarian is the best way to stay healthy, get fit and stay out of the bathroom on your holiday.

*malaria is not wide spread, in 2 years I have only heard of one person getting it and he was a local..is it worth taking malarial tablets? you decide.

*local dogs and cows - are not scary, just steer clear of them...Cows are the best recycling/disposal system in Goa.

*toilet roll - should not be flushed down the loo, use the bin or better yet try the Indian way of washing with jug and water. good cool down!

*Water - drink 6 litres of bottled water a day, more if you are drinking alcohol.

*Internet gets cheaper as you head out of tourist areas, go to mapusa/panjim to get for Rs20 (or less) an hour.

Blue and Gold and Green . . .

by Raingirl_0675

When in Goa, rent a bike and tour the state! Bike rents are amazingly cheap in Panjim - 100 INR which is less that 3 USD a day. Goa has fantastic roads, almost all the beaches and hills are bike-able, and the kick of the speed with salt and spray is more than one can resist! I remember going up a steep hill side

Fish

by ak47uk

When on the beach go take a look at the days catch from the fishermen and see how they barter for the price of fish, you could always get some fresh fish for yourself and get a local restaurant to cook it for you.

Meeting the Real Goans

by djferros

A good place to meet real Goans (rather than other Indians who have simply moved to Goa during the tourist boom) is at the many churches. The langugae and people are amazing.

Try and catch a wedding as well.
