Re: visa

All visa applications in the UK have been outsourced to

http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/aboutyourvisas.html

If you look at this site you will find full information on how to make a postal application here:

http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/postalapplication.html

Basically, you make the online application and then print out the forms rather than just submit them online.

You can take your applications direct to teh agency 9either address) but there is no need. Simply stick everything in a nice, securely register delivery envelope, ensuring you have a self addressed registered envelope for the return journey :-)
The outsourcing is a pain because you HAVE to pay the agency fees! But the service is quick and efficient :-)

Re: visa

Imclown, what can you do to 'help out'?

There are no real difficulties involved a UK citizen obtaining a visa for India through the official UK channels: it's just a matter of making an online or postal application in good time.

Travel Tips for Goa

Life guards in Goa

by georeiser

Calangute and especially Candolim beach has lifeguards to protect the tourists. A man is on the guard each 200-300 metres of the beach, and a patrol car drives between the two beaches. It was a political proposal from the opposition party to have the guards there. The sea is rough with high waves.

Beaches in Goa -not that I'd care ;)

by Janni67

Many tourists come to Goa because of its beaches. They are many, including Anjuna Beach which has dragged people to Goa for decades. Calangute "A Topping On Tourist Pie" is Goa's busiest and most commercialized resort. The beach itself is nothing special, with steeply shelving sand, but is more than large enough to accommodate the huge numbers of high-season visitors.

Want to find a beach with less crowd, try the north Goan beaches in Pernem subdivision which are delightfully primitive and untouched: Keri beach (with Tiracol and an ancient Portuguese fort on the other bank); Arambol (also known as Harmal); Mandrem (a toddy tappers' and palm distillers' hamlet with two little beaches: Lemos and Asvem) and Morji.

Calangute

by SirRichard

Wonderful beach and the center of the activity in Goa North Beaches. For a Restaurant, try 'Tito', 'Fiesta', 'Plantain Leaf'... If you go to Goa in Low Season (June to September, Calangute is the only ALIVE place in all Goa.

Holy Cow

by s.e.a.n

You will see cows just about everywhere around Goa on the road on the beach or even wandering around Anjuna market. Cows lead a very charmed life in India. In Hindu religion they are considered a source of life and can never be killed. Its fair to say they get full right of way in Goa and in some villages the mild and gentle spirit is considered one of the family
