Bharatpur Forest Lodge by Paul2001 The Bharatpur Forest Lodge is the only accommodation available within the Kelodeo National Park. It was not my first choice for a place to stay but as the first hotel that I visited was booked up (a rarity during my trip) I decided to check this place out because it was suppose to be swank. It probably was at onetime but I fear that it seems to resting on its laurels somewhat. The rooms were a good size with nice furniture but the TV did not work and the plumbing was suspect. Basically I thought that it was overpriced. This was one of the noisiest hotels that I have ever stayed at. This was not because of any manmade noise but because of the wildlife especially coyetes fighting amongst themselves.
The hotel has a very good restaurant and a small bar where a I shared a beer with an executive VP of Heniken. They also rent out bicycles here which came in very handy. Schindhia Guest House Varanasi by Vintom A superb location for anybody interested in the life along the Ghats of Varanasi. This guesthouse is above the Schindhia Ghat, just a stones throw from the main Burning Ghat in Varanasi. So if the thought of being so close to the main funeral pyres is off putting, this is not the place for you. I found it to be a great location away from the hustle and bustle. The whole area has a very serene and tranquil aura to it. Cheap accomodation in a great location with stunning views.
This accomodation is basic, but good enough for the average backpacker. What you get here is the view out over the Ganges and you can watch the evening Puja ceromonies going on below from the comfort of your balacony. Be aware that there are a lot of wild monkeys roaming around here! So don't leave your washing out to dry unless it's tied down! Inside of Bamboo Cabin. by Vintom This picture shows the inside of a Bamboo cabin at the Palm Grove Lake Resort, just outside (2Km) of the Main town of Alleppey, on the backwaters of Kerela. Such a peaceful place to rest up after traveling and a great location to just sit and watch the world go by surrounded by coconut trees and boats sailing along the waterway. There is no restaraunt or bar, there is nothing other than good clean accomodation and fantastic setting.
The Cabins are all clean and have netting over the beds, which themselves were comfortable and had crisp, clean white sheets. No glass windows, just bamboo shutters that swing out to allow light and air into the cabin. Each cabin has a small veranda where you can sit in peace and quite. Well worth the effort of taking a taxi out of town for. Theme: Pension/GuesthousePrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about average

Views from my windows at Shimla (c) ukirsari by ukirsari As a backpacker, I don't mind about "stars" or "without stars" for a place to stay. But if I can ask, must be not expensive, simple, nice and clean. And I got it during my trip in India. About Rs300/night [Majnu-ka-Tilla, Aruna Nagar, Tibetan Colony at Delhi] to RS1,000/night at Shimla. Entrance by Luchonda In the hotels or guesthouses i visited i never saw "mass produced" furniture. It is most of all a mixed of recycled furniture - from many years ago. But i must tell you - the rooms were clean - the facilities functioned. The servants are very kind and helpfull Theme: Pension/Guesthouse

We wanted to stay as high up as possible. Then we realized that in Darjeeling there are no rickshaws. So we carried our luggage to the top of one of the hills. thats where we found Aliment Hotel, a great Hotel, not expensive, with a magnificent view over the surroundings. They have a small restaurant, and a roof terrace, the room was clean and the staff friendly. Extra plus for the internet café on the ground floor, and the daughter helping out speaking perfect engish was a great help for us.
Great location (there was one other establishment that seemed to have an even better view, but it was closed during our visit.), internet access, restaurant, book-swap system. The Yogi lodge, we stayed there for almost a week. It is in the Vishvanath district of Varanasi, very close to the Ghats. We went through a whole lot of trouble getting there (read my Varanasi page), but we found it worth it.
The atmosphere is great, full of backpackers, swap-book system, and scrabble in the common room all the time. You easily make friends with other travellers. The hostel has its own kitchen and even though it isn't cheap compared to other restaurants in the city, the food was really good. They charge it to your room bill and the banana pancakes can earn you a small surprise when it is time to pay the bill. The staff was very helpful and friendly, even though you did get the feeling that they knew they were running a very cool place, there are common showers and indian toilets and there were both dorms and rooms for rent. Theme: HostelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Yogi Logde Varanasi, close to the Vishvanath Post office. Call in advance to book, check you guide book for phone number. Make sure you get the right Yogi Lodge, there are at least two false ones: Ganga Yogi Lodge, and Real Yogi Lodge.

Nina at our Bungalow, Castello's Beach Shacks by into-thin-air, 2 more photos Nice Bungalows on Benaulin Beach in Goa, About 300m to the left of where the road ends at the beach and behind Costello’s Restaurant. There are ones with both Attached and None attached Bathrooms, we took the attched option and paid 300r per night, The beds are Hard – so a good tip is to “Borrow” an extra mattress of one of the sun-beds on the beach, as long as you return it the next morning the owner is quite happy !!
Simply furnished but with mosquito nets and a “western flush toilet” and warm water. Theme: OtherPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than average
