by RakeshKapadnis
Garbet Point in Matheran is the only isolated point in Matheran . Most of the tourists coming to Matheran didnt go to Matheran. Though the distance is of long 6 kms in jungle, the path is full of scenic beauty. The view after reaching the point is simply great. You can buy the map of Matheran in the market & start of yourself.
Matheran

This lake provides the water supply for the Municipal Council of Matheran. It's named after a British lady. It is like gem in the surrounding hills. As the water is supplied to the town, fishing or swimming in it is strictly not allowed. The lake is at a distance of 2kms from the post office. On the left bank of it is Pisarnath shiva temple.
Though swimming is not allowed in the lake, one can enjoy the overflow of Charllote Lake. This flow runs for some dsistance & then converts in a huge waterfall jumping in the valley.
Every Indian loves Bhuttas. This is the Indian word for corn. Smoked Bhuttas are a feast on a rainy day.
Every time I leave Matheran , I make a vow to come ASAP. Its a rejuvenating experience.
