Rishikesh to Varanasie
by atinom
Hi there
I'm travelling to India in December and we want to get from Rishikesh to Varanasie, does anyone know if there is a day or overnight train we can get or a bus and not have to return to Delhi first to get to Varanasie? I know the main transport link for Rishikesh is Haridware. The agent i'm using has said there are not trains from Haridware to Varanasie.
Thanks for your assistance.
regards
Monita

Hey Monita,
I have traveled, comfortably between Roorkee n Varanasi, it’s safe n relatively efficient, though can be crowded, esply during spl periods,
I got this from the net
Train 8104 departs Roorkee on Wednesdays and Fridays at 18.55 and gets to Varanasi at 09.30 (2A, 3A, SL.)
Roorkee, a major Indian Railways Junction n a atypical Indian mid-sized town is about 25kms from Haridwar.
Apart from 8104, there are 4 daily trains to Varanasi from Roorkee.
Haridwar is also about 25 km from Rishikesh
Upasana Express/2328 From Haridwar Junction to Varanasi Junction On Sundays and Thurdays
Doon Express/3010 From Haridwar Junction to Varanasi Junction Daily Departures
You can get a taxi from Rishikesh to Roorkee, or a bus from Rishikesh to Haridwar, then a bus to Roorkee from the same bus station in Haridwar.
There is a train (4609) from Rishikesh (16.20) to Roorkee (18.36), but it's a bit dicey,
You can corroborate this info n even book on the Railways Official Site - http://www.indianrail.gov.in
You should book through your agent or as soon you reach Rishekesh
N if your agent is denying this, then there’s something fishy, n perhaps he’s hoping to rip off
Cheers

The Property is spread over a couple of hills. It has a Palace ( once a residence of Maharaja of Tehri Garhwal. You can either choose a deluxe room or Viceregal Palace (rooms in the palace cost twice as much). Every Deluxe room has a Balcony which promises a view of the valley or of the Palace.

Most of the tourists, who visit Rishikesh miss this place due to distance. Its located on 22km further up hill on badrinath road from Rishikesh. many saints & sages lived here. every person has different experience. it is under the Purusotamananda Asharam. Laxman Jhula Rishikesh
by RAJASTHANBYCAR
It is made over river Ganges to cross the river and is landmark of Rishikesh. There are spectacular views from the bridge.
Lord Rama did penance here for killing Ravana, the demon king of Lanka and Lakshmana, his younger brother crossed the river Ganga, at a point where the present Lakshman Jhula bridge stands today using a jute rope bridge. The jute-rope bridge was replaced by iron-rope suspension bridge in 1889, and after it was washed away in the 1924 floods, it was replaced by a stronger present bridge.
The sacred river Ganga (Ganges) flows through Rishikesh. It is here that the river leaves the Shivalik mountains in the Himalayas and flows out into the plains of northern India. Several temples, ancient as well as new, can be found along the banks of the Ganges in Rishikesh.
