ashram compounds: prasanthinilayam
If you apply early you can get accommodation inside the ashram for a limited period. You should provide some proof of identity like passport or driving license or pancard. There are lots of flats with basic necessities. If the flats are full you will be accommodated in the dormitories. Dorms are just minimum space to sleep, here it would be better to have your own mat and blankets. No locker facilities. Accommodation is difficult during festival seasons -Christmas, pongal pooja, vishu, onam, gurupoornima, birthday of baba etc.
Lots of small hotels, lodges are available outside rents for which are exorbitant and facilities provided poor.If you are planning for a longer stay a rented appartment outside would be a better option.
quality inexpensive food can be obtained inside the campus, catering to western, north Indian and south Indian palates. Timings are there.
Inside there is a bookstall, library ,laundry facilities and shopping center. you can also do volunteering in the kitchen.
you have to obey ashram rules
entry from 4 am to 9pm ashram door closes after that.
