Okay, there is the APTDC tourist office just on the edge of Paradise near the maidan. They do all this but the Ramoji was quite expensive as I recall. If you want to do city busses you could ask of them the numbers. Good luck, the bus system is a shambles and it is a big city (actually 2 counting Secunderabad). Get a copy of the monthly Channel 6 to find out what is happening in the city (at bookstores, etc.)..

Baked delites

by alycat about Ofen

A basket of freshly baked croissants, chocolate chip muffins and poppy seed crusted rolls. If this is not appetising enough, how about the aroma of cappuccino made from freshly ground beans and the sight of corn flake cookies on display?

Ofen (Swiss for oven) is delectably European... is the new destination for bakes, savouries and breads that offers fresh bakes to go with coffee. Danish pastry, doughnuts and other sinful desserts. Check out the place for some exotic and egg less cakes, and cookies .

Oatmeal and peanut butter cookies, biscotti and macaroons are available between Rs. 45 and Rs. 70 per kg. Don't forget latté, frappe and ginger tea. On the cards are pre-plated meals - salads, soup, baked dish and dessert, along with a terrace cafeteria, and children's play area. This is a Wi-Fi enabled restaurant, a neat option to work on your laptop as you bite into that chocolate chip cookie.

Ramoji Film City...

by lubna-s

For a couple on their honeymoon, there cannot be a better destination than Ramoji Film City.
SITARA, fully airconditioned luxury hotel, provides all the facilities and luxuries you need. There are four royal suites, four theme suites and 92 delux rooms.
Along with the honeymoon package you'll be given a complimentary candle light dinner at the Galaxy, a multi-cuisine restaurant with an attached bar. It offers Continental, Chinese, Mughal, Andhra, Gujarati and South Indian cuisine. A Bar-be-que by the pool side to enjoy the rarest of kababs under a star-lit sky. For the health enthusiasts there is an ultra-modern health club called the Samson & Delilah which is equipped with cyber, power jog, jacuzzi, herbal massage, sauna, steam bath and a team of trained care specialists who guide you every step of the way.

Hyderabad -- One City, Multiple Religious Traditio

by drolkar

When in India, do visit the city of HYDERABAD !

I went first to the old city, which reminded me of Dubai -- very Islamic! CHARIMAR -- an arch built in 1591 by Quli Qutb Shah, Hyderabad's then ruler, in order to commemorate the end of a plague. Now 'Charimar' is considered to be the symbol of Hyderabad -- and is also the name of a popular brand of cigarettes.

Many mosques, typical market with gold, silk, perfumes and oils.... Urdu is widely-spoken. The substance used to make "dosa" is sold in swirls of various colors -- white, yellow.... I would never have recognized it if I hadn't asked!

Other Hyderabad sites: the impressive GOLCONDA FORT (where I was given an impromptu tour by a group of Indian army soldiers who were in the middle of their training to become officers) and BIRLA MANDIR TEMPLE, made of white marble from Rajasthan and consecrated in 1976.

Rode past the gigantic Buddha statue several times while crossing the bridge, and will try to photograph it tomorrow before I leave..... The 'hodgepodge of religions' is incredible -- e.g., you're visiting a Muslim fort and it has a small temple dedicated to Kali stuck in the corner. Or: you're on the terrace of Birla Mandir Temple (Hindu) enjoying the view... of all the mosques and the huge Buddha statue. Amazing! Yet the Indian soldiers I met yesterday just said, 'It doesn't matter.' And indeed it doesn't, yet it certainly makes for a curious cultural landscape....'
