Visiting Hyderabad in May

by cyrilb

Hey Hyderabad VTs!

I'll be visiting Hyderabad during the last two weeks of May, on a business trip from Seattle (working with software engineers over there), and I'd love to hook up with cool people while I'm there, to hang out in fun places, make a deeper connection with the city and citizen, maybe share a dinner, a drink, a chillum :), or a good conversation.
Who's game?

Also, any recommendations on good places to hang out or visit?

- Cyril. :)

Hi Cyril,
Welcome your proposal for meeting locals and have drink, dinner and conversion,it is nice idea, but just a word of caution about chillum, we have strong act against Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.Though chillum had been a part local custom at some places in India and hippies can be seen enjoying chillum at tourist places as many Indian sadhus use it freely but remember tobaco is ok but "ganja" is definately illegal and may bring truoble for you.If you know all about just ignore this reply.
Best wishes

have a nice time in Hyderabad.

Namaste - Put two hands together

by srhussaini

Here people are very friendly and polite. The local language is Telugu and Urdu, but english is widely spoken & understood, so no problem. Generally ladies wear sarees and Salwar suits. You can even rarely find village men wearing Dhotis.

Get varieties of salad, delicious Turkish sweet dishes, Turkish Pizzas are some of the other new tastes that the Hyderabadis would relish in Mediterranean Cuisine.

They have Turkish chefs and to keep the originality of the taste up to the mark, they brought the Turkish expert to construct the special stone oven for Turkish and Mediterranean dishes. The sweet dishes

Public Garden

Located right next to the Assembly, this is one spot in the city that has almost everything needed to allure a kid. No wonder then that it is one of the most frequented spots for school picnics.

It houses two museums (the A P State Archaelogical Museum and the Health Museum), a park where kids can play, a mini school (Jawahar Bal Bhavan) for the children to learn fine arts and an auditorium (the Indira Gandhi Auditorium). The Jubilee Hall, the Lalitha Kala Thoranam (an open-air theatre that is a venue for many film festivals, fashion shows and beauty pageants), the building of the Department of Horticulture and a mosque are the other fascinating places in the premises.

Hyderbad

Hyderabad is where i was born.
A curious mix of the traditional and the modern, the city is often referred to as India's Silicon Valley.
The picture here is of the 'charminar', hyderabads most identifiable monument.
