Travel Tips for Hyderabad

Cricket on a Sunday

by alycat

Cricket is the unofficial national game of this country, so Hyderabad is not an exception to the rule. U will find most of the bylanes n grounds filled with kids n elders alike having a ball on the field playing cricket. People here love cricket, it defintely comes next to religion.

And once a shy young gentleman from Hyderabad ruled over the game for almost two decades. For a quiet, shy, unassuming boy, Mohammed Azharuddin has led the aspirations of the people of Hyderabad for a long time. From the inconspicuous bylanes of Hyderabad to the glitzy highlanes of international recognition, this Hyderabadi has journeyed bravely.

One of the very few sportspersons from Hyderabad who still commands an enormous amount of respect, inspite of being framed in a betting scandal.

Mohammed Azharuddin...not guilty, until proven otherwise... and still a great cricketer.

'escape from reality' bollywood ha ha

by 6aruna

For indians who thrive on three and a half hours of make believe in bolly wood films, Ramoji film city is a must see. Spread over 2000 acres of land, this dream place lies among dusty barren hills. Hats off to the man Ramoji Rao who dared to dream. He gives employment to a 6000 people, has converted a dry area in to a flower and tree lined avenue where period buildings of different centuries and countries co exist. You are transported around in trams and the conductor reels off the names of films shot in each building, advertisement shot, song sequence etc etc.

most part can be boring for children and people from other countries. children can enjoy the stunt shows , making of films , earth quakes and video games area. If you are lucky enough you can see a shooting in progress.

entrance fee Re 250/-

Visit the Chow Mohalla Palace

by vpas

Not far from the Charminar is the exquisite palace complex of ChowMohalla. This is spread over 12 acres and houses palaces, gardens, courtyards, fountains. this was the seat of the Asaf Jahi dynasty.Recently restored and opened to the public, it is truly worth a visit.Especially the grand dubar hall with its 19 chandeliers and the marble platform on which the royal throne was placed.
It is also a much sort after venue for concerts, qawalis and cultural programmes and is an apt and elegant venue. It is truly a feast to witness and enjoy cultural extravangazas in this historic setting.

My School

by alycat

"Me a dumb kid!!!"

I have not done anything great to do my school proud, St.Pauls High School, but would like to atleast dedicate a travelogue on VT for my school as whatever I am today is only because of the discipline, education and values learnt at school.
