An Escape from the City

The Pragati Resort is located about 20 miles outside of downtown Hyderabad. It is located in a more rural/farming area and tends to be a popular weekend retreat destination for worn out programmers who need to recharge.

Much of the property is still under construction as several of the listed amenities were nowhere to be found. We stayed in the Lagoon area where the rooms were very new and with modern style. Our biggest complaint was that we were initially put in a room with two twin beds, and then moved to another room with a small full size bed (I'm 6'2" and my feet would hang over the edge of the bed.)

There a lots of walkways through a nature type setting and a restaurant/bar on the property. There's not much else to do near the Resort, so you are limited to what is available at the resort itself.

Unique Quality: The pool at the Pragati is probably the most unique feature. In addition to a wading pool and large swimming area, they have multiple water slides and a children's water park. In November, the pool wasn't terribly busy, but it was still well maintained. It looked like there was a "lazy river" where you could float on a raft along a mild current, but it was not open while we were there.

As we often found in India, even though the resort was well staffed, it didn't always relate to excellent service. A lack of attentiveness and lapses in the attention to detail (such as in our reservations) were the only real blemishes on our stay.
