How Much to Tip??
by Donna_in_India

Tipping is fairly common in India with the exception of rickshaw drivers or taxi drivers, unless you hire them for the day (although a few rupees or rounding up the fare is always appreciated). These amounts are meant as a guideline. Tip ONLY in rupees, not any other currency. Check to see if a service charge has already been added to any bill.
Waiters - generally 10-15 percent of the bill in upscale places, in smaller places (local/budget) tip Rs. 10-20.
Bellmen - Rs. 50 - 100 (depending on how much luggage).
Hotel Doorman - Rs. 50-100 when you checkout.
Hotel Maid - Rs. 100-200 for your stay (5+ days). Be sure to hand deliver.
Room Service - Rs. 20-50. (20 for smaller things, 50 for meal delivery).
Drivers/ Guides - half day/ Full day sightseeing trips Rs. 150 - 250.
Drivers/ Guides - long trips spread over many days Rs. 150 - 200 Per traveller/ day.
Porters (train stations/airports) - set the rate beforehand (around Rs. 10-20 per bag).

Ramoji Film City
by muddybok
Ramoji Film City, a movie making complex about 1 hour away (by bus) from Hyderabad city. If you have visited Disney, and some world best theme parks (even Genting Highlands theme park in Malaysia), please do not waste your time (especially money) to visit here.
The Lonely Planet guide didn't highlight that bus number 205, 206 & 207 departing from Women's College are between 8:30-11:30am. You may need to check with the bus stop guide for alternate bus going to Ramoji if you missed the morning slots. Anyway, don't believe the local that Ramoji will require the whole day in order you to really explore the place. I personally find Ramoji Film City boring, lack creativity and should send few staffs to visit world famous parks and try to imitate some of their concepts/themes.
You will not derive even half the excitement as compare to Genting Highlands theme park. And the admission fee is definitely overpriced for foreigners.
Hyderabad-the land of nawabs

"Hyderabad-the land of nawabs"
Neither as fastpaced as Mumbai, nor as slow as Calcutta. Neither as conservative as Chennai, and nor as cosmo as Bangalore. Neither as salubrious as Pune nor as polluted as Delhi. The name Hyderabad conjures up visions of a vibrant city of minarets and modern high-rise buildings. A natural and sophisticated blend of old and new - an old royal culture with a new pro-active approach and hospitality. The teeming bazaars of the old city, in the midst of which stands the historic 400-year-old Charminar, the hyper-markets and ultra-modern multiplexes in the newer areas of the city all add to the charm of Hyderabad.
