Sri Sri Natun Kamalabari Satra: Religious hostel in a monastery in Majuli
This is one of the 22 Satras in Majuli Island. They accept guests at a very cheap price, almost nothing, and you can participate like spectator in the holy dances every night. Dinner will be served to you for free.
Unique Quality: You have to leave your shoes at the reception

La Maison de Ananda, Majuli Island: Designed hotel by French
These are nice bungalows built by a French couple of architects. The place, the theatre in the open air and the garden are lovely. They will bring your dinner to the terrace. Everybody is very nice in that place, my favourite in Majuli Island.

Landmark hotel Guwahati: First quality hotel in Guwahati
Very expensive, out of the backpackers’ means!
The restaurant is nice and not to expensive. I drank a beer there enjoying the gorgeous atmosphere, and it was served to me by a waiter with turban and dressed like a maharaja. I paid for it 150 rupees (about two and a half rupees, the double than elsewhere. But it was worth.

Orchid Hotel Guwahati: Beautiful hotel in Guwahati
Clean and nice staff
Unique Quality: Very nice and good price, located in front of the sumptuous Hotel Landmark.
It has a restaurant on the first floor with a superb view of the road.

People are nice and helpul
Unique Quality: Moderated prices. It is the official hotel for tourists, Indians and foreigners.
On the ground floor there is a restaurant and a travel agency offering daily tours to Guwahati and in general to the whole of Assam. On the first floor there is a bar serving beer.
