They had just been rebuilding this guesthouse and it lookes very good. We arrived at night and had to wake up the people who work here, but they were still very friendly and welcomed us in.

It is only $5 a night for a very nice and clean double room.

  • if you want to spend a night, actually you will be forced once here being the connections with gaya quite rare, don t go to the few fancy hotels in the area, stay in one of the many monasteries, very basic but well worth!I ve been in a tibetan one,the closest to giant buddha statue, and the monks were really interesting people, the place was obviously quiet(after a while wondering around india was a great relief)and a nice big garden in the back. The only con is the tea, great for tibetans undrinkable for me,try it if you want but not as I did, first in the morning

  • This place is quiet, safe and cheap. They offer rooms with 1 to 3 beds, and a sleeping hall. No food is served, but the Pole Pole is across the street. The gates get locked at 10 PM, so be on time. The rooms can be locked, but donīt use an indian lock, they canīt compare to western hardened steel! There is something like a warm shower in the courtyard... you pay a few rupies to a woman there, and she gets a fire under a metal watercanister going, so after 15 min. youīll have hot water for aprox. 20 min. showering. There also is a electrical boiler installed, but it doesnīt always work. The beds are hard, but the monks make shure, no suspicious people linger around, and the price is very low.

The Vietnamese Temple: The most luxuary one in the town

  • I can't believe in Bodhgaya that such a luxuary hotel exists. But it's the best I see, with very nice and clean room, with TV, Aircon, and toilet room.

Accidentally, I met a Vietnamese monk whom can speak fluent Chinese(he studied Chinese course in Yunan province, China before) and I came to visit this temple with his invitation. He told me he lived in Norway where was still very cold. He usually came to Bodhgaya from Mar to Apr in every year to have the pilgrim. When the weather became warmer in Sweden, he then returned there.

He also showed me the favorite tea he like, the modern MP3 bought from US which seems like he is doing what many of the ordinary people do on this planet.

When I looked at the place he stayed, I had the puzzle again.

Is this his pilgrim? Who is actually ENJOYING the life now?

If you look for a very comfortable stay here, this temple can be the best choice.

Double room with TV, toilet room is 500rs.

This place is run by a couple of nice guys who were helpful and willing to please. I had to leave very early in the morning to catch an early train and said to them about ordering an auto-rickshaw to Gaya. However, this wasn't done but they went to find one when I did want to leave. On the ground floor there's a communial seating area with a TV. My room for Rs400 was clean with 2 single beds, clothes hanging area, coffee table, ceiling fan. The bathroom was again reasonable clean with a good 24hr hotwater shower. They provided me with a plug-in mosquito coil and soap. My only real gripe with the room was that the lighting was a bit dim whilst my only gripe with the hotel was it's location. It's a bit of walk to the temple and other restaurants but there are a few across the road (see my restaurants tips). All-in-all a good place to stay with friendly service.
