ahmedabad would probably be your gateway to the rest of the state of Gujarat. Ahmedabad itself has a few things to offer to the traveller. there are a couple of places of historical interest. for architects- this place is a must see in india due to the vast patina of architectural styles that the city has to offer. the city is also a relatively safe place to stay and roam around even during night time, probably due to prohibition of alcohol.
