The Afternoon HIGH
Less than an hour out of Surat is a village, Malekpore, a serene and calm place with a peaceful community, a Mandoza nadi (river) and superb food.
In the afternoon we sat under a huge tree at the top of a hill, the women did their washing in the river, and the buffaloes had their afternoon bath. Indulged in the fruit there, anoos, which was weird but tasty.
Another excuisite taste was the neera juice! which comes from date trees. Its collected through the night and then drank at breakfast but if taken late afternoon it would have fermented and thus serves as alcohol.
