hi friends,
i m planning to visit simla and kulu manali somewhere around 25th june. what i want to know is, is it a good time to visit manali or will it be raining heavily there? also can anyone suggest me some good budget hotels to stay? what is the average rate of a budget hotel at manali?
i would b very grateful, if anyone of you can provide me some answers to my queries.

Hi,
June is one of the peak months in Manali (off season usually starts from 15th July). So even the budget hotels have inflated prices. If you are looking for a very basic accomodation, it should be around 800-1000 Rupees. The same will be 300-500 in July. Won't be raining as monsoon starts in mid-July.
hi thanks for such n early reply. i checked out some budget hotels on net and some of them are as cheap as rs. 500, hotels such as hotel beas of hptdc. looks decent from the pic and i m planning to book it. do you have any idea how it is? the tariff is pretty ok. have you been to manali?

Hi,
I've been to Manali a few times but never stayed in a budget hotel. If you are getting a room for Rs. 500 you should grab it. I stayed in HPTDC Hotel in Keylong (on the way from Manali to Leh) and it was managed well (compared to other state hotels) and had basic services though after having food in their restaurant, i had some stomach problems. But that was an exception and you can avoid their restaurant in Manali as you can find many other places to eat out. I had no choice in Keylong.

Manali is a great place to begin a trek into the higher Himalayas. Busses and taxis leave from here to Ladakh and Spiti Valley (May to Sept). You can also rent a motorcycle and set out on your own or better still with a friend. The valley is green and lush with treks over high passes to Parvati valley.
