im planning a 12-13D trip to Leh/ladakh in end Nov.

Any suggestions on which airport i should stop at to fly to leh?
1) mumbai or delhi?

then is it possible to find english speaking tour operators in Leh?
which can take me to ladakh and zanskar.

:)

thanks for the responses, tips and all!

There is only a direct flight from Delhi to Leh.
Leh is in Ladakh, it's the capital and yes there
are many English speaking tour operators.
End of November is not a good time to go. It will
be very cold and difficult to get around. Best month
is July...

New delhi is the best to stop , daily 3 flight from new delhi to leh..
but the best season start from may to october.
in november either you'll see snow or dry desert, or if you are planning in january to feb.. there is trek called chadar on frozen zanskar river..

Travel Tips for Leh

The true nature can be felt here

by masuhail

Hi: Four or Five days for visiting the nearby places of ladakh is just sufficient. Y0u can certainly visite Pangon-taso, Khardungla and Nebra Velley as well. You can search out reasonably good hotel or guest house very easily according to you budget. Better, spare some time to go through my blog: I am sure you will find it worth reading

Wigh you very best of luck.
MAS I am bearing all the eternal memories of leh in my mind. I very strongly feel if someone has not visited Leh by road he is missing too much.

Cycling

by bradbeaman

Rent Bikes and just head for the mountains. Start with the Shanti Stupa as your first destination. You can rent a jeep and drive the bikes up to Khardung La, the worlds highest motorable pass at 18,380 ft and then ride (fly) the bikes back to Leh. Be sure to be at the first army checkpoint before 10:00 AM or you will not be allowed up to Khardung La.

Shanti Stupa

by akhilkvav

Visit the Shanti Stupa near Leh. Built a few years back by a Japanese sect, it has to be seen up close, in order to appreciate the worksmanship of the temple. The massive courtyard overlooks the town of Leh, and is a seriously overwhelming spot in terms of the view. You can see the whole of Leh, the army bases, the places taking off and landing, etc. Very very beautiful and serene spot.

Pangong Lake

by norain

Pangong Lake situated at 14,500 feet (4,297 m) a long narrow basin of inland drainage, hardly six to seven kilometres at its widest point and over 130 kms long, it is bisected by international border between Indian and China. The farthest point to which foreigners are permitted, is only some seven kilometres along the southern shore from the head of the lake.
