Bangalore has a domestic airport that currently caters to certain international flights too. International carriers flying into Bangalore are Lufthansa,Singapore Airlines ,Malaysian Airlines,Sri Lankan Airlines, Thai Airways ,British Airways, Air France & Gulf Air. British Airways & air France have five flights a week and Lufthansa now has daily flights.

Proposal for an International Airport in Bangalore has been accepted and construction is underway at Devanahalli, 30 km north of downtown Bangalore. The Airport will be ready in the first quarter of 2008.

Indian Airlines , Jet Airways and Sahara are the major domestic airlines that fly into Bangalore from major other major cities. Air Deccan is a popular no frills airlines that operates to most cities and large towns. [1] (http://www.deccanair.com) Kingfisher Airines (http://www.flykingfisher.com/) is a Bangalore based discount airline company, offering regular flights between Bangalore, Delhi, Goa and Mumbai.

"Bangalore Accommodations"

I stayed most of my time in the MG / Residency Road area. It was ok but I preferred staying at the Ghandi Bazaar area. Southern Residency was priced reaonsably ( for Bangalore ), spotless, fairly quiet with sat and internet. The area is not touristy and being a bazaar has lots of shopping and is not as 'busy' as the MG area. There are lots of restaurants, one, north from the SR hotel, across an intersection on the west side one floor up, I think the China Restaurant (?) had excellent food and a lively scene at night, albeit men drinking India scotch but football on the telly!
