Short personal time in Bangalore - What to do?

by jrcflaus

Planning to visit for work Mon-Fri in March. Will have personal time the weekend before and after plus the next Mon and Tue to do personal things.

Question is: Where should I go leaving Saturday through Tuesday (flight, train or bus trip)? I suppose I could book my return ticket out of another major city.

Also, any suggestions for things to do on the weekend and evenings in Bangalore?
thank you

check out my pages on karnataka.depending on what your interests are i could suggest some places.
coorg, nagarhole, kabini, dubare are all great places that you can do in the time that you have mentioned.
you could also go for a short visit to kerala if you take the flight.train could also be possible but would be a bit hectic.
have fun,

Mysore and surrounds(Srirangapatnam, Somnathpur etc.) are interesting
enough for a weekend. 2-3 hours by train...

Places to visit are mentioned - Mysore 3 hours on road by cab, can leave early on a morning and visit the palace and brindavan gardens and return the same night or spend the night in Mysore and next morning head to any places mentioned by Vpas - most of them can be reached in 3-4 hours by road and spend a night at Coorg/Dubare and you can drive down to Wynad(Kerala) in 3-4 hours and spend a night. It really depends how much you want to do and what you want to do.

In Bangalore there's plenty you can do, on top of the list is pub hopping, Bangalore was known as the Pub City.

Peco's off brigade road, mojo's on reisdency road are good for morning lazing with beer and brunch on weekends, you can do ala carte during weekedays, there's Koshy's on St.Marks road in the evenings. If you want a different dinning expereince try Opus(at Palace road) or Whitefield area side.

There are many pubs/clubs on M.G. Road and all the 5 stars have high end bars and good brunches at the 5 star hotels during weekends.

You can visit the parks - Lal Bagh and Cubbon Park.

Shopping is another thing you can do, if you want some handicraft stuff, Cauvery Emporium on M.G. Road is good.

Travel Tips for Bangalore

Relax and put up your feet at Tamarind Tree

by abi_maha

This is a relatively unknown destination off Kankapura Road around 15 kms from Bangalore. A couple of friends introduced us to this place where you can spend half a day easily. The interiors are done up in heritage style with wooden atrefacts that totally remind me of my grandma's house! The antique setting is enhanced by the presence of a water tank totally like a holy water tank in temples of yore. You can ask for food buffet if you are planning to be there for lunch, the feast is sumptuous! You can rent the place for a wedding/reception at an exorbitanat cost. But well worth it if you can afford it! :)
Head off on the Kanakapura Road towards Kanakapura, you need to take a left on a muddy fork, head right in the straight road and they have put up sign boards to help you get there.
