Bangalore Info Needed
by gopeace
Dear all,
I am planning to visit India for at least 1 month. My itinerary is
Singapore-Calcutta-Varanasi-Golden Triangle-Bangalore-Singapore
I am taking the advantage of the Jetstarasia budget airline to fly Calcutta and come back from Bangalore.
Would appreciate very much if someone can advise me for the below:-
1) How long does it take to travel from Delhi to Bangalore by train?
3) What is the living standard like in Bangalore? Guest house, food and transportation pricing range from?
3) Any recommendation on budget and clean Guest House in Bangalore?
4) What are the not to be missed places or things to see in Bangalore?
5) Is it safe for solo female traveller in Bangalore?
Thanks a million,
-gopeace

I will be spending three days in Bangalore with the young musician who has recently written a book on Bangalore. If you have any specific questions, I can ask him or ask him whether you can write to him directly.
I will fly Jetstar from Singapore, Northwest to Singapore. I flew Jetstar to Yangon in December and they were quite good. I have been to Bangalore about four times in the last two years and I thought it was very safe, albeit a little bit crowded. a very cosmopolitan city from an indian geopolitical point of view with lots of people from North East India ( Nagas, from Manipur etc) and lots of Budhists from Tibet.
Enjoy your trip to India.

Bangalore, as already said, is a lively cosmopolitan city...but with nothing that cultural or historical to see. I'd spend my time elsewhere in India...and get to Bangalore a day before in order to get your flight. Delhi to Bangalore by train will take at least 36 hours...probably longer! Check out the indian government railway website!

hi
welcome to bangalore. To ans ur q, it will take 40hrs from delhi to this place.why dont u fly from delhi instrad, lot of no-frill airlines these days.hope u get a good deal.
places to visit- not much here.all u can do is pub-hop.if u can spare a day u can visit mysore which is 140kms from here.u will find a lot of package tours which take u from bangalore to mysore, show u around n get u back.that should be worth it.
This place is really safe for women travellers, just be careful with the cab n auto drivers.U better watch yourself in delhi.
there are a lot of cheap n neat places around residensy road.check out Hotel Woodlands there.
anything else, mail me
bye

Hello solo girl,
Well, most of stuff people already told you, I used to travel alot from Bangalore to Delh it take me about 40 hours and more to get new delhi, but if you have money you better take flight than train for your safely, because alot of people lose there bags and others stuff. The train stop most of the city and sometime you may fall sleep, once you fall sleep is easy for thief come over and take your bag other wise if you travel with some one you will take turn to sleep. I used to do that with my friend. When you get to bangalore go visit a place called Hampi it is very famous for temples, go to train station ask about it, also stay off the street in the night. About the restaraunt in bangalore there is alot of restaurant and most of them are good , go to MG ROAD STREET you will enjoy it, you can find KFC , MC Donald, chinese food and more. Take care.

Coffee House on MG road
by Wanderboy43 about Coffee House - Coffee Workers Cooperative Society
Besides great coffee (for 6 rupees) and masala dosas (13 rupees), this place offers great atmosphere, even though it's in the tourist area. Even if it looks crowded, be aware people share tables here. There is also an upstairs. I was told this restaurant hasn't changed for 40 years.
Very green, if not so clean

Very interesting view of Indian culture. As everywhere in India- be careful what you eat. Cooked food is generally the best idea. Don't drink the water :P
I usually carry a lot of calories from home.
