Deluxe bus from Bangalore to Mysore

by XxRoseannxX

Does anyone know how to get from the Bangalore Airport to the bus station? How often do the buses run and the approximate cost?
We have a day in Mysore so is there anything interesting we should see?
Many thanks for any help.

Hii,

Bangalore airport is a small one and not far from city and does have a occasional bus connectivity ( may be once in 4 hours), the preferable mode of transportation is driving through taxi, you can buy the coupon at pre-paid taxi counter inside the airport itself.

From airport to City bus stand will cost you approximately Rs 400 ( a non Airconditioned one), a nd a airconditioned car may cost you another 200 more. There are two agencies that run pre paid auto service. One on the left hand side of from your arrival point ( run by Govt approved agency, government of karnataka one) and the other one is on the right hand side from your arrival side ( Private concern, i think Akbar travels or something). Don't worry, its a very small airport and you have to cross this board before leaving the airport and airport has only one exit point for arrivals.

Deluxe Buses to Mysore : There are plenty of them, in south india the most deluxe buses are called as volvo bus ( the swedish company manufactures this in bangalore), this has good airconditioning and leg room, space for your luggage and noice less for long distance travel. Once you reach the bus stand you have to ask for this bus specifically.

Following are the four types of branded buses operated by KSRCT ( Karnataka govt)

Airavat Volvo โ€“ Semi Sleeper and Executive services
Mayura AC โ€“ Semi Sleeper and Executive services
Rajahamsa โ€“ Semi Sleeper and Executive
Semi Deluxe services

For a day in Mysore, strongly recommend you do the 1-day excursion to Belur and Halebid. The 2 temples there are some of the best in the world: as a cousin once said, 'After seeing the Taj Mahal I felt an ache from missing it: when I saw the Temples of Belur and Halebid, the ache diminished somewhat.'

Travel Tips for Bangalore

DO NOT DRIVE !

by ChuckG

Just one tip ! DO NOT DRIVE

If you think Europeans, Americans or Middle Eastern are crazy drivers. You haven't seen India. No one use flashers, everyone honks and I have not seen much street signs or police. My cab drivers were kamikaze but we had to dive on the side of the road a few times to avoid frontal collisions with busses or lorries.

Auto-Ricksha are a good alternative in the city but negociate price.

Serene Beauty- Jain Temple at Jayanagar

by abi_maha

Whenever we feel the need to spend some time in silence and find some solace we head to this white wonder in Jayanagar - the Sri Dharmanath Jain Temple opposite to the Bus Terminal. Its actual name is Shri Adinath Digambar Jain temple. The construction of this temple started in the early part of this decade and completed in 2007, however even today some 'touch up' jobs are constantly happening in the campus. The speciality of this temple is that it has been built in white marble with colourful shades. The Jain temple located right along side main road welcomes with a nicely sculpted arch-gate. Once you get in, you are greeted by two white marble elephant on both sides. You can climb a few stairs to reach the main mandir. You can also climb two small stairs at the back side of the main mandir to get to the top. Apart from the main mandir, there were 3 other deities. I am not sure about the names..... however unlike in hindu temples you can get upclose with the deities here.
