Hotel Recommendations (MG Road Area)

by RudeYute

Hi,

Looking to stay a few nights in Bangalore in January.
Having spoken to a few people and reading around, have decided to stay around MG Road or nearby.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a hotel around here?
My budget is about 4,500 INR per night, and am hoping to get a nice and clean room.

Thanks

I typically stay at the Chancery on Lavelle Road. It is clean and safe and within walking distance to MG Road (just a few blocks). It is slightly more expensive, around 5,500 -6,000 INR, but does include one or two free meals with the rate. The tax rate is around 15% or so. They may have cheaper rooms but I am not sure.

The food is good and a good selection of veg and non-veg items. Drinks and food is modestly priced as well. I also like the fact that you can open your windows which is so rare in hotels now days. The weather is nice this time of year and that is a plus. You can of course get an auto rickshaw or do what I do and just walk to MG or Dispensary road for food and shopping.

oh yea, there are two Chancery hotels and the other is much more expensive so make sure you call the one on Lavelle.

Have fun

Hi,

You can stay in Hotel Nandini, just a km off M G Rd. This is on St. Mark's rd and is pretty decent. The room rent starts from Rs.2500/- per night for a standard single room. Call: 080-41266666 Service tax is extra.

Hey I know a good guesthouse with all facilities off Bannerghatta rd too. It's a residential locality and the rooms are clean and spacious. Homely atmosphere there. It is only Rs.1000 per night. Why dont you enjoy there and spend the remaining money on a comfortable cab that could be used to visit all places in the city. The staff there would help you plan your visits and keep you comfortable. My friend there runs the guesthouse. Her number is 9342578842. Call immediately for booking, coz this is always full!!

Brunton Aster www.bruntonaster.net has been recommended by some one who stayed here recently. Just a couple of months old, brand new and clean and reasonable! Right on MG Road (off just 100m)! Need any help?

Travel Tips for Bangalore

Affordable Indian Clothes

by abi_maha about Westside

It is a chain of departmental stores spread across India, from the stable of the powerhouse of Tata's. Head here for some really good quality kurtas and kurtis and less than a fraction of the cost you would pay at most other stores. They also have men's wear, home furnishings and foot wear, however it si best known for innerwear and women's wear :)I have some clothes from here that have lasted me for over 3 years of rough and daily wear! Kurtis and kurtas Rs 300 -Rs 500

Tipu Tip's Summer Palace

by grets

This two stprey building was constructed in 1791, mostly of wood. Tipu Tip used the building chiefly as an audience chamber. He had an upper story balcony from where he would entertain his audience below. This, along with other parts of the complex, has been lost over the years.

Only traces of the beautifully gilded and painted interior remains.
