going to Anantapur from Bangalore airport and return

by miki64

Hi everyone I'd like to know How much cost a pre-paid taxi from Bangalore airport to Anantapur(vicente ferrer foundation)and reverse after 4 days. Is there a place for reservation inside the airport. Are them safe?
Have I also pay a return when a taxi go from a city to other?
Are there trains for Anantapur in the morning?
Thanks for your help

Hi Miki6,
Anantapur is 200 kms from Bangalore, however the bangalore airport is on the highway that will take you there, so the distance will come down by some 50 kms for you. Yes you have heard right, even for a one way transfer you will have to pay the taxi return fare as well. There are cabs in the airport for within city tranfers, however for out of city transfers you can rent cars from other service providers like Hertz. The closest railway junction will be Guntukal, IMO if you are looking for an economical option take a bus, try this link for getting your reservations done.

Hope this helps.

I recently wnet to the Anathapur district to the Sai Baba asharam in Puttaparthy and used a taxi service from a company in bagalore. The contact details of this company are on my Bangalore pages, transport tips, which please check up to see if they can serve you.

A better option will be to reach yelahanka railway station from the airport, which is just 15 kms from airport, from here you will get lots of trains to ananthpur,
you can book online at irctc.co.in

Travel Tips for Bangalore

drive down to...

by mitsi900

drive down to kerala.........
Kerala is ofcourse a beautiful place, everyone knows that, there are amazing beaches like Kovalam, Cochin, the famous backwaters like in Alleppey, Kumarakom, the beautiful mountains of Wayanad......
Of all this i have been to Calicut the gateway city of the Malabar coast, this is also the place where Vasco De Gama landed on his arrival into india. Around 14 km. away is the beach resort of Kadavu where we had gone for our 'honeymoon'. Kadavu and Calicut are in Northern Kerala, here the backwaters are different from those in the South, because they do not extend into sandy shores on the same level as the rivers, but to hilly land. So, the exciting part here was our romm was on a hilly area and overlooked the backwaters!!! From Kadavu we had also gone on to Wayanad, about 2-3 hrs drive from Calicut. Wayanad is the mountanious area of Kerala and has beautiful plantations. Here there is another reort called the Vythri Resort, again an amazing place (we had a tough time deciding which one to pick, but since Wayanad would be cold in Jan - when we got married, we picked Kadavu by the backwaters). Calicut also has a good beach. The interesting part is you can come to Kerala from Bangalore and do a good amount of sightseeing on the way. The route from Bangalore will be via Mysore -Wayanad - Calicut and then you can go further south of Kerala.
PS - Another good place to stay is Kappad Beach Resort @ Calicut. Kappad Beach is where Vasco landed - the picture here is Kappad Beach

Bannerghat National Park

20 kms out of Bangalore is this large wild animal park that is well worth the visit. Starting as a lion safari park in the 70's, then as a tiger safari park in the 80's, it continues to grow and is a darling of the IT industry. Intel, Dell and other familiar companies have contributed over the years. You can take driving or walking (much more exciting :) tours on a daily basis.
