Dance club, water sports, safaris...

Hi everyone, i would be on a work trip to Bangalore on the 1st week of October. Would really appreciate a city guide to happening dance clubs, nice beaches with water sports, wild safaris..etc. Also, what would be a nice hotel to stay at that is close to shopping?
I would love to meet up with ppl while i am there as well to just hang out together.

Hi Becholi,

As BluBlu said, we dont have a beach in Bangalore but dont worry...we are just about 6 hours from some very fine beaches - north Kerala (Bekal - Kasargod) to coastal karnataka (Mangalore-Udupi). If you plan to go to wild safaris, take a trip to Jungle Lodges (run by the Government but very well maintained) near Karapur on the Kabini river (this is again a 4.5 - 5 hour drive from Bangalore). There are a few pubs with dance floors- all around the Central Business District of MG Road (Brigade and Residency Roads are the areas to look for!). Most of the shopping too could be done around this area. Regarding the hotels..now, this is the tough part - usually hotels in Bangalore get booked weeks (at times months!) in advance. Do let me know what kind of a tariff range you are looking for - then it is easier to suggest a few hotels. then you can start checking with them for availability.

Do buzz me when you are here...I would be glad to meet up (and maybe gather the other shy Bangalore VTers too!! :-))

The happening dance clubs are : F-bar at Le Meridian, Spinn off residency Road and The Club which is outside Bangalore on Mysore Road. But then due to some legal restriction these clubs are open only till 11:00 pm !!!! which is quite disappointing to most us as of now :-(
As Ramesh rightly said, no beaches in blr :-( Nearest ones are at mangalore and Chennai both of which are an overnight journey away-either by bus or train.
Safaris-Kabini is good, but Jungle Resorts is usually booked out. There is a place called Masinagudi near Ooty that is fantastic in my opinion and not as touristy as Kabini. U get to see a lot of wildlife there :-) Lemme knw if u r interested will fwd all the contacts i hav frm ther.

Unfortunately I can not help, but I am travelling to Bangalore every now and then. Does anybody have the latest information about good dance bars or clubs ?

There is no beaches in bangalore , but there are good beaches in karnataka, which is not commercilized like goa. there are good govt owned accomadation available. welcome to bangaore

Noone can come to Bangalore and not eat at KOSHY'S . Every Sunday they serve the best Aapam & stew possible. Even if you cant make it for breakfast its open all days for lunch and dinner . The service aint the best in town but the food is excellent..Good Steaks .. TRY THE SMILEYS (my favourite )..the burgers are good , chicken liver sandwiches .. TIRAMISU (Sinfulll ) .. Liquor is also served ..the list is endless... The actual life of Koshy's isto sit in the non a/c section ... you will encounter all the arty literati crowd of Bangalore there....and ofcourse mr Prem Koshy himself may happen to pass by just to check if you having a good time.. Anything on the menu is delicious :)
