Taxi fare from bangalore to ooty

Can anyone give me an idea of theavg fare from bangalore to otty by hired car/taxi.

I sugegst that takea train from Bangalore to Coimbatore.There are intercity express trains and nice trains too. From Coimbatore take a taxi that takes about 3 hrs. I paid a couple of years ago 1000 rupess for same day return.
Another suugestion is that take a train from bangalore to Mysore...there are number of trains. From Mysore there are taxis available that go to Ooty.ON the way you cna visit Mudumalai forest area too.
I feel takinga taxi from Bangalore to ooty is a sheer waste of money unless there is some particular reasons.

Best rate I have seen is Rs 5 per km for non Air con and Rs 6 for Air con.. Minimum of 250km per day would be charged and incase you are not planning to come back in the same taxi, then you would have to pay for the return distance as well.
Rs 150/300 per day depending on if there is nightdriving or not, for the Driver would need to be added to the above...
