by gowindo

I want someone in Bangalore to receive mail on my behalf at his address and then re-send it to my camping address, as I am travelling and camping from time to time. Reasonable charges can be discussed.
can contact me directly at gowindo@yahoo.co.in

by Wanderboy43

What type of mail do you need ot receive when you're camping? A package of nuts to feed the squirrels?

This is such a scam! ha ha. you don't have any friends or family to do this for you?

seriously, i'm living in bangalore now and am looking for some nice hiking/camping areas. please advise.
Thanks

Travel Tips for Bangalore

Eating with our hands

by abi_maha

Do not be surprised if you walk into a restaurant and order food and they serve it without any cutlery, we in India are very used to eating with our hands. However most hotels will give you the same if you request for it. But Indian food is meant to be eaten without knives, forks and spoons. Eating rasam rice can never be as much fun if the same is done with a spoon.
Also some restaurants will serve food on a plantain leaf as this is healthy and adds iron content to the food with is good to combat anaemia. Wash the leaf with bottled water to be safe about the same.

Andhra Food

by cuppadamoksha about Bheema's .............

There are several Andhra Speciality Restaurants in Bangalore. The most common thing to order especially if you want your order in a hurry is a Veg / Non Veg Meal or a Biryani . This generally is the typical order in an Andhra Restaurant and service will be great . Any diversion from this staple will ensure that your order will take much longer to reach you. Be prepared to spice up your senses at an Andhra restaurant ..everything is SPICY..even for the average Indian palate . Try the powders that are placed on your table. Mix them with rice & a big spoon on ghee ( clarified oil) ..mix well and eat ..yummmmyyyyyyyy

To name a few of the numerous places ....

Bheema's , No31, Ground Flr, Asha Bldg, Church Street Ph : 25587389 ( Avg Meal for 2 : Approx Rs 180 )

RR, Church Street , Off Brigade Road Ph: 41122323( Avg Meal for 2 : Approx Rs 200 )

Amravathi ,45/3 , Residency Rd Cross , Ph : 255800440/1365
Amravathi , 20 , 4th Cross, Venugoplaswamy Lyt , Koramangala Airport Intermediate ring Road, PH : 2570 2333/2332 Meal - Veg / Non Veg

"Attack of the Killer Mosquitoes??!"

We were in Bangalore recently for a business meeting. As another colleague and I were on the same flight, there was only one airport pick-up service arranged by the hotel. I had to wait outside the airport while the driver went back to the waiting area. There were swarms of BIG mosquitoes. Oh!!! It was a relief to know that Bangalore is not a malaria zone. So... *whew*.

"Day 2: At the Forum"

Had Dosa with chicken gravy (curry) for lunch. It was goooooood. Had ice cream for dessert. I was hoping to find Movenpick ice cream at the Food Transit but didn't find it. I was told that they stopped serving it because it has become so expensive. I still had ice cream for dessert though. I don't know what brand but it was good.

"Day 3: The Amazing Race"

We had a team building activity and it was similar to The Amazing Race. What a lovely way to see Bangalore! We ended up drinking beer in Pecos Bar, just off Brigade Road.
