For some reason or other I have always had good luck with taxi drivers all around the world.. BA to Siem Reap.. I had to get to the New International airport to catch my flight to Paris. someone had suggested the new bus that plies the route, but with a heavy suitcase full of goodies for my cuban friends, i chose to go by taxi...and I met Prakash the owner driver of a Tata Indica taxi..
A canarese from shimoga, this young man was chattty and extremely friendly and we had fixed the one way fare at 600 inr. i thought of asking him various fares, and i was amazed how reasonable they were
8 hours /80 km around town of bangalore 950 inr
if you are going out of town 6 inr/km
he then suggested a karnataka itinerary, giving me the names of various towns and the distances between them.
also to ooty if you like or calicut...
add 250 inr per day for the driver. dont forget if you cross the border you have to pay the taxi permit of that state, 1000 inr for tamin nadou and andhra pradesh and 500 inr for kerala
I certainly plan to use him on my next visit to bangalore, as i always wanted to go to ooty.. so it would be a two day trip .. can seat up to four people, but three would be more comfortable.. the total taxi fare would be aroud 5000 inr.. not bad at all prakash may be contacted at 0961188498 if you are calling from outside the country please add the country code
