Bangalore is quite a safe city. If you are arriving in the airport you will find lots of taxis and rickshaws. It is quite safe to travel even during the night. Within the city the shops are open till 9:30 PM.Bangalore being quite a crowded city it is quite safe to walk down the street. From bangalore to mysore you can travel by train, there are four trains which start at 5 AM, 6 AM, 7 AM and 7:30 AM. These trains reach mysore within 3 hours. It is better to book the ticket a day or two before. A pasenger second class ticket would cost 80 Rs one way and the AC chair car would cost you 300 Rs one way.

Just to add: Prefer a prepaid taxi or auto rickshaw (3 wheeled) from airport. Usually all autorickshaws run on meter, the minimum starts with Rs.12 for 2kms and Rs.6 for every km. Night time charges from 11am to 6am are 50% higher. If you need any help you can IM me

Hiya. Most people get round Bangalore in 'auto-rickshaws' - but book a taxi at night. Tell the driver a landmark or hotel: street names are hopeless. Sadly terrible roads and distance make it hard to walk anywhere but I never found it unsafe during daytime: in fact strangers can be really friendly. (I did get pickpocketed but on a bus). Many shops stay open til 8 pmish. For the railway station ask for 'Majestic': also the longdistance bus station. No need to book the train to Mysore in advance but if you do a couple of days ahead you get a nice meal on board. The journey is just 2 or 3 hours. Mysore is much more pleasant for tourists than Bangalore! But people everywhere are great. Good luck and enjoy.

Bangalore is cool - feel free to commute as you like except avoid walking down to airport after 7pm. shops businesses generally close down around 10pm. Cannot say anything about mysore - bangalore is IT hub and anything you require to buy in IT - just browse ITerials.com - YOu will get lowest and genuine prices online plus those people hope will deliver your requirements to your place.

Weekend at Jog Falls

by abi_maha

Situated in cool climes of Western Ghats, is the highest waterfall in Asia, located 450km from Bangalore. Trains run at regular intervals from Bangalore that will lead you to this magnificent gift of nature. The falls are situated in wide expanse of wild and bewitching surroundings.

River Sharavati falls from a height of 292m, making shafts of waterfall atop the hill, forming a glorious waterfall. The river forms four different tracks that are named 'Raja' (highest with height of 250m), 'Rani', 'Roarer' and 'Rocket' which are named aptly by the majesty they display.

Even when the water is little less, you can reach the deepest time and enjoy the music of the nature with chirping birds and echo of the flowing water. It is also called Jeruppe Fall and is a must visit place in Bangalore.

On the Sharavati River, before the falls, is the Linganamakki Dam that is a major source of Hydroelectricity in Karnataka. On the second Sunday of the month, water is released from the dam to the falls from 10 am to 6 pm.
