Cheap Mobile Phone
by travel4fun21
Hello, I'll be in Bangalore and adjoining rural Andhra Pradesh for a couple of weeks. Could some one suggest where I can purchase an inexpensive UNLOCKED mobile phone and SIM card. How much does it cost. I need a basic compact phone to make and receive calls. Brand names and service suggestions would also be appreciated.
Also, where can I get my branded GSM phone unlocked in Bangalore and how much does it cost?

Hiya,
If you are looking to buy a cheap phone, you can easily get one, the cheapest Nokia Black and White basic model costs around $ 40-50,if you want a colored phone it will cost you between 80-90 $. To unlock phones in BLR you need to go to Commercial Street ( this is shooping area and has many Mobile Telephone shops and Iam sure you will find someone to help you out, also it should not cost you more than 10$
Alongwith You can easily rent out SIM once you land in India , infact AIRTEL ( The largest Mobile Operator in India) has a counter at the airport itself where u can pick up a SIM.If you have any other query regarding your trip , you can post ur question here or email me - rjohn1976@gmail.com
Have a wonderful Trip in India
Best Regards

Travel Tips for Bangalore
Bangalore nightlife
by socheid about Bangalore nightlife
Bangalore is a city with wonderful people, some sensational food to be enjoyed and a great climate. There is no eutopia and the downside is that Bangalore nightlife is frankly dire by Western standards. State laws mean that all the bars have to be closed (and that is closed, not last orders) by 23.30 every night. There is nowhere I could find in living there for three months that would even vaguely resemble anything approaching a crazy night spot. Bangalore is a great place for the reasons that I listed above. If you want great nightlife then you are in the wrong city.
An Ancient Plant in a British Botanical Gardens
by cochinjew
Lal Bagh Gardens on the outskirts of Bangalore is a treasure trove of plants collected over the years the british were kingpins here. I have noticed that all the colonies (British) have good botanical gardens ( accra, kingston, port of spain etc).
Here a Cycad (cicada) one of the oldest plants surviving from plant kingdoms at Lal Bagh.
Best places to watch Cycads is Southern Africa especially around Durban Gardens ( which has the only example of a surviving cycad, from the prehistoric times )
