Hello Kanchi,
It was nice to read that your brother is moving to Bangalore shortly. If his office is at airport road he can perhaps find something around Indiranagar which is a good residential locality (but now becomming commercial). It is difficult to quote a price as it varies. On the other hand it is better to go through an agency. The other alternative is a service apartment and there are quite a few in the area. Try and get something where you have a parking space in the rental, or this can be a nightmare to find. There are plenty of eating places also shopping centres in the Indiranagar area. I have been away for almost 6 months and each time I return I discover something new.
Good luck and welcome to Bangalore===Jean

Kanchi...
First wanted to check how was your Chennai trip..About your q's here - Its quite possible to get a decent apartment for rental around Airport road..depends on the budget and what amenities he would like to have. Let him not take any apartment right on the airport road since its a traffic nightmare. Apart from Indiranagar Jean has mentioned, Koramangala is a wonderful place to stay too - it is about 4-5 kms from Airport road, has all kinds of imaginable eateries, has life a Mumbaiite would look for and is close enough to THE happening streets in Bangalore - Brigade and MG roads. If he is budget conscious and would still want to be close to Airport road, Marathahalli is a good choice too (except perhaps when it rains loads!!). The rental in Bangalore would range from 10K for a 1 bed apt to 16 K for a good 2 bed room apt in areas like Koramangala. Marathahalli should be about 25-30% cheaper. Let me know which part of Airport road is his office - then I might be able to suggest in a more specific way. Or he can mail me at . I will give him a few real estate references he can use in that area.
The serviced apartments are good but I guess they would work out too expensive if someone wants to stay for longer duration and save some money too! If this option is still the choice, pls let me know. I will suggest a few in that vicinity I have used for my friends and colleagues - they are absolutely wonderful places.
Hope this helps,
Ramesh

Travel Tips for Bangalore
No good buffet lunch & dinner...
by Doggins about Oceanic Multi Cuisine Family Restaurant
I stumbled across this restaurant (part of the Vintage Residency Hotel) whilst walking to the LalBagh Botanic Gardens.
Unfortunately the food was really bad. The curries all tasted the same, and didn't have much taste at that and the rice was burnt.
The ambiance and service is OK
aside everything it was still extremely cheap, maybe I did just go on a bad day. nothing :(
