Train from Bangalore to New Delhi

As part of my trip to India next year we want to experience a longish train journey, to break up the number of internal flights we are going to take. One of those journeys could be from Bangalore to New Delhi.
Could anyone advise me on how much time this is likely to take, the cost involved for sleepers, and any good websites that I can refer to for information/guidance.

The Rajdhani would be ideal, serves you meals and fully air-conditioned, takes around 27 hours from Bangalore to Delhi. The flight wont cost much to Delhi in comparison with Rajdhani, if you have the time, its worth trying the train, if your strapped for time, just fly

One can enjoy the western ghats and the beautiful coffee estates just 32 kms away from Shringeri.One can pass though this beautiful green belt and and go for a trekking or hiking from any point from here.best option is to goto the nearest town Koppa and start your trek from there.This entire area is devoid of any tourists so it is the best place to be on your own.The locals are very helpful and if you can be little adventures then you can call on any of the sprwaling estate owners bunglows lining the Koppa town and they will never turn down visitor.They will gladly take you around the coffee plantation and you can even enjoy a good cuppa coffee fresh from the plantation itself!
Belur Temple

Belur is a village 3.5 hours drive away from Bangalore city and about 20 Kms away from Hassan (town). Belur is known for its temple with hand carved sculpture. The drive to Belur is pleasant. Moreover there are many other ancient temples around Belur which have gone unnoticed. Chikamagalur is a nice town to stay 20 kms away from Belur. The coffee estates and the pleasant climate make it an ideal holiday spot.
Considered the twin jewels of Hoysala art and architecture, the Chennakesava and Hoysalesvara temple complexes of Belur and Halebid respectively in southern Karnataka are among the most frequented tourist destinations in the State School excursion groups, back-packing foreign travellers, middle-class tourists from other parts of the country, families from nearby villages who come to pray and to admire the sculptures
