by OzGypsies

my family and I will be treking between Bangalore-Mysore-Calicut-Mangalore.

I have 3 kids travelling with me and don't want to take any medication unless absolutely necessary. will insect repellent with DEET be enough ?
can mossie nets be picked up easily ?

Hi Carl,
You dont say when you are likely to go trekking. Better hang on for a while as there are severe floods in Bangalore and Mysore. Checxk the news before you leave your country.

You need to ask yourself how much you value your health and that of your children when it comes to malaria - if your health is not all that important don't worry about antimalarials.

Do yourself and your family a big favour and go consult your general practitioner about malaria and what steps to take to avoid this horrible disease.

Travel Tips for Bangalore

Try the Chinese at Mainland China

by Kumarjit about Mainland China

Other than Amoeba International, the only restaurant (I am excluding the restaurants in the five-star hotels) where you will find authentic Chinese food is Mainland China. Here you can expect to get all sorts of Chinese cuisine like Hunan and Cantonese. You can also try their Oriental dishes. They really cook well and they have a lot of items in their menu. I like their Hunan Chicken the most. The sauce is very light but believe me, there is no loss of taste!

Bangalore intro

by shark1977

Bangalore is a wonderful place to stay and spend time. I have been staying in Banaglore for the past 14 years and have seen it transform from a silent and calm city to a busy city. currently it is the IT capitol of India.
There are many worth seeing places in and around Banaglore

In Bangalore we have Summer Palace, ISCON temple, big parks like cubbon park and Lal Bagh, Vidhana Souda etc.
