Bombay-Bangladore

by Xfire

Hi!
I wonder of there is any public transport from Bombay to Bangladore and how long would it take?

Can anyone help me out?

Thanx

Yes, of course, you can fly or take the train. It's a while since I've done the latter, but I'd guess about 18 hours.

Air: 1 hr 20 min, check the budget airlines like airdeccan.net

Train: 3 trains (I think one of them is not all 7 days): takes 24 hours. http://www.indianrail.gov.in/frame.html

Bus: will be tiring, also 22-24 hours, run by private and state government

Deccan airline is cheap but it will take an hour more than other airlines.
Trains are cheap and best way to travel from bombay to bangalore ..3rd AC is preferable. U can book ticket one day prior to journey this is called TATKAL(Emergency) Scheme.

Volvo buses take around 18 hours.... but the journey may be tiring.

Re: Re: Bombay-Banglaore

to the just above, air deccan also has the same planes as othe rairlines and they all take 1 hr 20 minutes Bombay-bangalore. I have travelled once. any specific reason why it would take one hour extra?

hey,

thats a cool one. you can travel, as mentioned by some of our fellow-VTers in 3 ways between Mumbai (Bombay is the old name) and Bangalore (I guess Bangladore is a typo). for a lil more info...if you are travelling in the months between March-June, prefer air travel or an air-conditioned train/bus. These aren't really expensive. I am not sure what are the dollar fares but if you need the info, I can manage to get the same. While air travel is quick and more comfortable, the journey by train or coach should let you take in more sights (quite a few pleasant ones if you are taking the coastal route) and cross section of life (your time and patience permitting!!). Do let me know should you need more info about Bangalore. I dont profess to be an absolute expert but I guess I can source the right data quickly enough.
All the best travelling in India,
Regards,
Ramesh

Which trains goes via the scenic route and what about hotels ( how to find them )

RE: RE: Bombay-Bangladore

by madtrav

hey bbayblore

if you want a scenic route, travel to mangalore and then travel northwards on the konkan railway (its one of the most beautiful stretch of rail travel). Now that its almost monsoon time (though its not exactly raining the way it should), you would get the most amazing views..

Try it...its worth it

Travel Tips for Bangalore

Take Classes - French, German, or Music, Computers

by Wanderboy43

While in Bangalore I took beginning German classes at teh Max Muller Bhavan (German Cultural Center). #3, Lavelle Road ph: 222 19772 or 222 14964
Very high level of instruction (+ good price ~ 5,500 rupees for 16 weeks weekend course) Weekday courses or 6 week Crash also available

French classes are also offered at Alliance Francaise (www.allfranceflr.com) phone 91 80 2258762 - even cheaper.
email: alfrab@satyam.net.in or courses@allfranceblr.com)

Also, I was recommended the Bangalore School of Music - #32 Nethargi Rd. Fraser-Town (near Water Supply Road). At least there will be a message board with instuctors.

Finally, do like I did and take computer classes. NIIT is the most reputable, although be careful as the person signing you up for the class will automatically lie about the start date. The class will magically start "tomorrow" if you only pay immediately. It''s okay to ask for a discount. There are many centers, though the is one NIIT near Brigade Road.

Spanish "coaching" classes are offered through "Centro Latino" ph 56969187
5,27th Main, II Cross, off Koramangala-Indiranagar Ring Road. Sat/Sun 9.30-11am

This sit-down restaurant is constantly alive. it is believed that five generations of families have patronised this restaurant. fish and chips, chicken on liver toast, fish biriyani, appam and stew and the wonderful coffee.

srhussaini's new Bangalore Page

Bangalore is the "Garden City of India" with its many gardens and boulevards. Its pleasant climate and laid back charm attracted many senior citizens and thus later on came to be called at "the retired man's paradise". With the multinational Computer companies setting up their offices here and its the rich technical expertise found in the city gave it the name of "Silicon City". And of course what is Bangalore without all its Pubs. Its is now also called the Pub City with over 200 Pubs all over the town.
