Solitary Traveler in Bangalore Feb 2008

Hello all! I will be in Bangalore Feb 2008 for a few days (still open)...would like to know if any fellow sojourners, foreign or local, care to meet up in order to enrich the experience. Let me know if you are interested or if you have any 'must-see' items to put on my list of to-do's. Anyone know where I can get some lessons in authentic Indian cooking? Thanks a million!!

Keep in touch for a Vt meet .. if possible will try and get one organized or help u organize one .. Must see list - Mysore, Coorg are places close to Bangalore and defintely worht a dekho.

Travel Tips for Bangalore

Anything in Brigade Road

by Kumarjit about SF or Louis Phillipe or Lee or any big store

If you want to shop in Bangalore till you drop, then Brigade road is the perfect place for you. However you must be sure of your pocket and must have an idea about how much you can spend. If you are a foreigner, then you can also exchange your currency notes for the Indian ones at Fifth Avenue or any nearby Foreign exchange office. In many cases that will not be necessary as most of the shops there accept credit cards. You can buy watches, shoes, toys, cosmetics, other than clothes.
The best shop according to me is The Levis Store from which I bought a pair of denims. Denims, Trousers, Jackets, Shoes, Shirts, Ties, Watches, Cosmetics or anything you wish. This entirely depends on your pocket and your budget. Expenses may range between INR 2000 to INR 20,000(USD 40 to USD 500)

The Bombay Store

For good gifts such as Silk Scarves or very Indian looking artifacts, this is the place. I was hooked when I visited their shop in Bombay and now each time I am in India I go there and pick up something or other. Silk Scarves are a good value. it is a little bit pricier, but 7 euros for a nice silk scarf is not bad..
