One of the Best

We (aged 64 & 61 years old) have just spent several days in Kochi and can highly recommend Brunton Boat Yard.

It is by the waterside with unrestricted views across to the other shore, with the ships sailing to the port and the passenger ferries from the other islands. It is situated close to Jewtown and the many shops etc.

The hotel itself is a modern but sympathetic development of an old site and has all the amenities that might be expected for southern India and certainly for what we required.

Facilities in the rooms are beyond comment (in the right direction - its a long time since I needed a stepping stool to climb into bed!!) and comprehensive (although I cannot comment on such things as internet access and Wi-Fi etc as I'm not inot such high tech especially when I'm on holiday).

There are 3 restaurants in which first class food is served, each restaurant specialising in a different ambience and type of food, be it fish, local cuisine or western food. A tip - if you eat at the Terrace Restaurant (excellent fish dishes) in the evening be aware that it is in the open and that mosquitoes are on constant patrol (so much so that there was insect repellant cream available if the smoke coils did not deter them!!). At dinner the Manageress was always on hand personally to make sure that everything was satisfactory. She was a perfectly charming, unobtrusive and efficient lady, and I am glad to say that we had no need in sorting anything out, although her culinary advice was always helpful.

Service was excellent and efficient in all areas of the hotel - I phoned to Housekeeping that I had some laundry to be collected and before I had carried it to the door a member of staff had arrived for it!.

We can thoroughly recommend it and we hope to return there in the not-too-distant future.

Unique Quality: Peaceful and quiet but well situated to explore the antiquities and markets/shops of Fort Kochi. Luxurious accomodation with great views across the river, dolphin spotting, excellent food and service. A useful swimming pool with good pool-side service. River cruises on the hotels own boat.

The Abad Plaza is great, really central and friendly. I've stayed there several times with family, friends & also alone and have never been dissapointed. The rooftop pool is great !

Recently been to Cochin after the honeymoon in KLR. I stayed in Sealords with my wife and her brother. Very cheap and so expect basic facilities. Decent hotel though and lot of westerners (I am Indian and my wife English).

There are also other hotels, you will find it on the web. You pay for what you get. Brunton Boatyard is very nice..expensive though. Try and stay in Ernakulam instead of Fort cochin as easy access to shops etc.
