We were presented with a welcome fruit cocktail on arrival, before checking into our rooms.
The hotel has a large foyer/ reception area, attractively decorated, with a mix of modern and colonial style fittings. The staff were polite and efficient and seemed keen to make us all welcome.
Free map/guide to Cochin on reception.
My room was very pleasant- Spacious, airy and clean.
Twin beds, armchairs to relax in, a writing desk with stationery
T.V / radio, mini bar, and welcome tray of assorted local snacks with a card describing each item.
The spacious modern bathroom was well stocked with towels and toiletries.
Lights, A/C, heating, room service etc. were all operated from a push button console, (which was a bit confusing when I awoke at 2am feeling unwell, and needing to find the bathroom light VERY quickly!)
The Vasco De Gama Bar, Tharavadu coffee shop, Garden cafe by the pool, and Fort Cochin restaurant , which specialises in seafood, offered a variety of places to relax and enjoy a drink/meal.There was also a gift shop.
Although this hotel would normally be out of my price range, I'm glad I had the chance to experience a night here as part of our tour.
A welcoming hotel, despite being quite busy with tour groups etc.
It did have quite a calm air about it, which was nice, after the heat / humidity and bustle of Cochin.
Quite a few "extra touches" that made it a bit special. Welcome tray, with a sample of Keralan snacks, info about hotel/ Cochin etc.
Also a "fitness route" map of 3.5, 4 and 7km runs around Cochin. No, I didn't try this, far too energetic for me in the heat and humidity!
The lawned gardens/pool area is a pleasant place to rest. Very attentive staff are on hand with a supply of dry towels.
Drinks and snacks are nicely presented.
Our evening meal was taken in the restaurant.
Hot/cold buffet, with a good selection of salads, assorted breads, western/local cuisine. A good selection of desserts too.
Our meal was accompanied by a band, playing modern pop/light rock/C&W etc. which I quite enjoyed surprisingly.
