Mid-range options

If you're looking for something more modest but still comfortable in Ernakulam than the Regent, try the Abad or the Dwaraka on Mahatma Gandhi road, or the Bharat on Durbar Hall road. All have their faults but are convenient, clean and perfectly acceptable, and much more of an Indian experience than the more expensive hotels that look the same everywhere. Expect to pay about 16-20 Euro for a single.

Unique Quality: The Abad has a good restraurant and several shops, and is situated on the main street, MG Road.

Some of the Bharat's rooms have a sea view; the hotel has some of the best vegetarian food in the city; and it's located across the street from the Durbar Hall (exhibition hall) and the Shiva and Hanuman temples. It's farther from the railway station but closer to the ferry dock than the other two.
