How much time for airport check-in

by thuyronald

I will be flying out of Cochin to Delhi at 11:30 am on SpiceJet. How much time would I need to be at the airport before my flight?

thanks for helping.

Hi - I fly frequently on Spice Jet. You can cut it closer but I'd be there an hour before your flight. They'll scan your (to be checked) luggage before you check in and sometimes those lines and the lines for security are a little long.

Thank you Donna for your help.

Since you are so helpful, can you tell me how far and how much time it would take to get to the airport from the cruise ship port in Cochin?

An agency told me it would take about 2 hours to do so. Since this is my first time in Cochin, I would like to see at least 1 or 2 sights before leaving Cochin to get to the airport. My cruise ship docks in Cochin at 7:00 am.

Thanks for your help.

The airport is 48 kms from cochi port.
will take approximately 1.5 hrs by car.if you start at 7 am there will not be much traffic jam. enjoy.

Greetings from Cochin.. i am here just for the day.. and Sunil from the Touristland Tours and Travels tells me that one and half hours for the ride from the port to the airport and then at least one hour before the flight. you might want to ask the taxi driver to show you some sights on the way..if you have any questions sunil will answer for you +919387777113

Travel Tips for Kochi

Film crew

by Willettsworld

As Kochi is a little different to other places in Kerala, it's become something of a film location manager’s delight what with its buildings, streets and history around every corner. And around these corners you might see a film crew and cast filming there on the street right in front of you. Of course, to Indian's, this is some of the best entertainment and they hang around for hours in order to get a glimpse of their favourite film stars.

Air Asia from KL to Cochin

by cochinjew

Just four hours and you land at Cochin.. a journey which took many of the malayalees of malaysia nearly one month to accomplish about sixty years ago!
convenient schedules, not needing to spend a night on the plane. efficiency of air asia and the price is right.

Driving to the backwaters

by IoannaE

Kochi is not actually situated on the famous Kerala backwaters, but it's close enough. The tour agent will arrange for a taxi to pick you up and drive you halfway to Kottayam (about 1 hour through several villages dotted with churches, mosques and Hindu temples). It's not worth doing if you're going to Kottayam, Allepey or Killon anyway, but if Kochi is your only central Kerala stop, don't miss this trip, if only for an afternoon. Take a small, punted boat so that no engine noise disrupts your slow cruise through this idyllic landscape.....

Tuk-tuk sight-seeing trip

by PierreZA

You might be offered a sight-seeing trip by many a tuk-tyk driver for about 50Rs. It is actually a cheap way to orientate yourself and get an idea of Fort Cochin. The only problem could be all the stops at emporiums and shops. If you kindly decline, it should not be a problem.
The driver we had was well informed and could give some history and background of the sights visited.

And this is what is looks like. This one has 2 bedrooms, kitchen, separate bathroom and toilet, but only one terrace.

The houseboats of today - huge, slow moving, exotic barge used for leisure trips - are the reworked kettuvalloms of olden times. The original kettuvalloms were used to carry tonnes of rice and spices - a standard kettuvallom can hold up to 30 tonnes - from Kuttanad to the Kochi port.

A portion of the kettuvallom was covered with bamboo and coir to serve as a restroom and kitchen for the crew. Meals would be cooked on board and supplemented with fresh fish from the backwaters. Today, the tradition is still continued and the food from the local cuisine is served by the Kuttanad localites, on board.
