More about Camp Noel
An excellent hideaway from Munnar
by TripAdvisor Member NiteshThattasery
Camp Noel is an excellent get way from normal life.
What the resort leaves you behind are memories of a comfortable stay, highly courteous and friendly staff, always smiling and there to help, great food, tranquil surroundings and great climate.
Its a great place to unwind and disconnect from everything unpleasent.
The journey to the resort is interesting and some may find it a bit tiring. if you are 'the resort in the main town types' then this is not for you. Its a good hour and a half away from Munnar town. The resort is closer to a a very popular tourist spot called 'Top station'. You can go to the resort only if you hav an SUV. Those who dont, need not worry the reosrt will have you picked and dropped at your convinience in their SUV. The journey from 'Top station' (the pick up and drop point) to the resort is also a unique one. Its interesting and after many trips does get tiring. The road changes from tarmac to stones to clay and then muddy roads to no roads...and it zigzags thru some breathtaking view of tea plantations. Dont miss the two 150 year old Eucalytus trees on the way. The scent of Eucalytus cannot be missed when u pass them.
Our family was happy to have stumbled upon this resort. Its was our sheer luck. I strongly reccomend it for the young at heart, who would like to a touch of adventure to their holiday.
Excellent, but tiring

Apparently, you would have to travel close to 40 kilometers after reaching Munnar, and that trip is gonna take 60-90 mins of your time; so fit this time into your planning. A thrid of the 40 Kms before said is on a rough terrain, horribly bouncy and back breaking, unless of course you have a nice vehicle that can absorb the impacts - definitely sedans and small cars would die on the road, which is why the Camp offers SUVs to tame this terrain.
Till you reach the Camp you would be looking for it, but it cannot be viewed - and when it does, you will find it a tad different than what you see in the pics on their website - not so amazingly spacious. But the serenity and the scenery around more than makes up for it.
We stayed in the cottage which was clean, but gets soiled in a minute on a misty day - so, if you are a clean freak be prepared to be extra cautious not to walk on the muddy surfaces... Lavish floral decorations could have added to the splendor of the landscape, its absence is telling if you are a nature loving photographer.
Given that there is no contact whatsoever with the outside world, a Television could have been a great companion to at least know what is happening around the globe, the news paper reaches a day late so you virtually have no idea if there is a bomb blast in Munnar, unless of course you are enlightened by some good natured soul.
The food is great - they have a good range to satisfy the appetite, and if you are from South India, I suggest you eat an apple - the one I ate was amazingly tasty.
The low point of the resort is that you cannot frequent to and fro the resort - not because of the distance from the town, but the tiring terrain on the way - quite easily you would get fed up with the bouncy roads and would like to stay put at home. Be careful if your companion is a delicate person, the trip could easily turn into a nightmare from a dream.
The service is good, not exceptional - but they are forthcoming and friendly, everyone of them.
far from the madding crowd :-)

we were looking for a romantic getaway and we found more than what we'd expected..the resort is surrounded by greenery as far as one can see..u can trek..its completely safe..but its better to take a local guide which the resort would provide anyway..the approach to the resort is a little rough for around 30mins..but the stay is worth the effort..u can expect warm and friendly service from the staff..it is more of a homely experience than that of a swanky hotel..the chef is brilliant at doling out local specialities..do look out for Bipin..he made our stay as comfortable as he could..u cant miss his warm smile anyway!!Rijo would also be around to drive u down in a cool buggy..in total style..And not to miss out Sasheendran, forever helpful and ready with any advice u might need..
camp noel was a truly memorable experience, not just because of the breathtaking beauty around it, but also because of all these wonderful people!
Peaceful, rejuvenating place with Excellent People & A Great Chef in the Midst of Nowhere!

Our trip started off on a wrong note with the resort vehicle not starting from the airport! It took us nearly one and a half hours to get the vehicle set and leave the airport. Eventually, we were moved to another vehicle at Kochi and started off towards Munnar!
It takes a good four and a half hours from Kochi to reach Camp Noel - It took us nearly six and a half hours due to us stopping midway for lunch and rains that caused a bit of traffic near Kochi! (Camp Noel is around 1 hours 30 minutes away from the main Munnar Town)
The last 35 minutes of travel from Top Station (actually, you have to take a road which is kind of 2 Kms before Top Station to reach Camp Noel) was definitely adventurous ;-) through tea plantations, forests and REAL bad roads! My wife (who did not have much of a warning from me on this earlier) was worried whether we will reach Camp Noel at all!
So, after landing in Kochi at 9 am in the morning, we managed to reach Camp Noel at 6.15 pm and were wondering if things would be same as what reviews stated on TripAdvisor (We had chosen Camp Noel based on fellow TripAdvisors' reviews).
Whatever discomfort we experienced because of the travel vanished the moment we reached Camp Noel - the staff at Camp Noel took care of that!! They made us feel at home! The cottage in which we stayed had great views from all the rooms and was clean, neat and the toilets were clean too!
Apart from the location, what sets apart Camp Noel is the kind of people who run the show there! Rijo (the Asst Manager), Bipin (with Service), Sasi (the GM) and the young Chef made our stay pleasant and memorable!
The rooms are as given in the pictures on their website. Their customer service and care is quite evident. They are a relatively new place and I hope that they continue to take care of guests just like now, even when they grow into a larger outfit!
This is the right place, if you want to be away from hustle and bustle - and relax and rejuvenate yourself! When we got back to Chennai, the whole trip was like just a dream - it was like living in a dream picturesque world!
Very Good

This is good place to be. Away from fast life.
Enjoy the nature.
Approach road to the hotel is only the issue. But it depends on the perception and your interest.
I went with my son 6years and in-laws 65 years, everybody had issue of approach road while going to the hotel but on the return trip everybody enjoyed the nature on the same road back. We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights.
Staffs are very helpful and friendly. Good place to be, if you want a brake from routine life.
Great place to spend some cozy moments.

A romantic gataway, enchanting beauty at 6800 feet and something more...

Me and my husband went to Munnar for our Honeymoon in the Month of April. After a lot of search we found out this place, Camp Noel, yet before coming we were having some doubts about the true beauty of this place but as soon as we reached there we were meet with a living heaven...We stayed there for 3 nights and enjoyed every moment of it whether it is the views, food, trekking, or just hanging around, but the most touchy part of it was the hospitality of the hosts. Starting from the manager to the driver every one was honest about their duties. The camp fire in the evening was soothing, but for the night safari you have to be lucky to see the wild animals. We only saw a wild baffelo! The place itself is so romantic and silent and the nights were chilly. As a whole we had a very good experience of a lifetime.
Its beautiful than you see in the pics

We had a great time at the camp noel located 12 kms from the Top Station Munnar. Pandi, the driver was patiently waiting at night for hours as we reached the top station late. From there, the ride to the camp in their SUV was an unforgettable expireance. Surely he had been driving since 12yrs as he said. No road, No street lights cruising at an avg. speed of 25-30 kms on the bumpy road, the fun had already started. Mr. Shashi, the manager greeted us and was very courteous and recommend us the dinner which was really gracious and tasty. Pandi also drove us from the main building to the cottage in the buggy which all would love to drive atleast once. The cottages are neat and tidy and most of all, the rooms smells really great ( which we normally don't find in even good hotels). As we had reached at night, we couldnt exactly enjoy the beauty of the camp, but when i stepped out in the morning, it was an heavenly view. Lushly green landscaped grasses, beautiful flowers and plants, apple trees, surrounding mountains.....its much more beautiful than you see in the pictures..in short, great place, great service and people, great food....highly recommended.

All that glitters is not gold
In my life, I have often faced situations where I found that all that glitters is, indeed, not gold. But, after visiting Camp Noel, I am now a staunch follower of this proverb. When I opened the pictures on its site, we were speechless, and much to our expectations, the place was, no doubt, beautiful. But, never have I faced such a poor room service as in this one. The intercom wasn’t working properly, the food always reached late and the rooms weren’t cleaned properly (except the first day). Both, my wife and me, felt like running away from the place. I’m really disappointed.
