Location -
Tall trees is located off the Bison valley road, o the same way as Abad copper castle, etc. It is nestled amongst tall trees, dense foliage, and is at a slight slope (not recommended for older people). Each room is actually a cottage (2 rooms really) plus has it's own terrace balcony.
The best part is the nature... every morning, sipping tea (what else? We are in Munnar after all!), we would listen t a live orchestra of birds (laughing thrushes, cuckoos, babblers, drongos...)for hours together - sounds of the most exquisite variety, daily we would have at least 3 sightings of the giant Nilgiri squirrel (absolutely no clue as to it's real name!) from either the terrace or while walking.
The gardens around the resort have cardamom plants, spice plants, ginger, coffee beans, etc.
Unfortunately t is a bit away from Munnar town so you would need conveyance to reach it. Else, you can hire a car for the day, sight see around the tea plantations (and walk thru some of them), see Munnar town, etc.
Service -
Excellent service. Staff was very courteous, showed us all the flora and fauna within the resort itself. hey also arrange for heaters if you need them. Ditto for umbrellas.
Tariff -
In peak season, a double room with breakfast will cost you Rs. 5000 to 6000 - and worth every Rupee. They have a location which few others can boast of.
Facilities -
The restaurant is a short hike up. Great buffet style breakfast. Both North and South Indian food.
Taxis can be booked on the resort and are reasonably priced.
Advice -
When in Kerala, it is safer to go for te erala dishes - because
a) Kerala dishes are lipsmacking! (Esp. Ishtu, Appam, Dosai, and the vegetables cooked in coconut oil.... aaaah!)
b) For North Indian dishes you risk the local rendition of the dish which may not always be what you had in mind!
Unique Quality: The Nature -
You just cannot tire of the sounds of the jungle (despite being in a resort). An excellent place for birding. Walks outside are limited since it gets misty by 6 pm.
A water stream...
and small waterfall meanders within the resort, with a quaint wooden bridge.
A campfire
For groups and a small tree house for children.
Squirrels -
The smaller kind, abound, and pass your path often.
Amenities -
Very clean wash rooms, with hot water (PS - in most resorts, hot water comes only in the tap since water force is not enough for the shower) . hey provide soaps, towes, etc.
Every room has a tea/ coffee maker and cable tv.
Directions: A few kms off Munnar town. Turn left on Bison valley road when coming from Munnar.
We stayed at Tall Tree Resorts for 3 nights and 2 days. We got special package deal from my wife company. We went to this place to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We didnt knew much about the place. Everhitng was taken care by my wife like travel reservation, accomodation etc as I was in Dubai on business trip. It was absolutely fabulous experience. Resort was extremely good in terms of accomodation, food was delicious, people were very friendly.
